Location: Davenport, IA | For those of you who build rods, have you ever extended a blank? If so, where do you get the material for the extension? I just built my first rod and now have the itch to fix some of my older ones. I want to add at least 1' to a couple of my older rods that are too short. |

If you have a custom rod shop around you, they will probably have pieces left over from other rods they have built to use at a fraction of the cost of buying a cheap rod and stripping it, and it would be stronger than a piece of dowel rod as well.
I know Thorne bros has tons of rod pieces...the last 3 that I have built I used an extra piece from them. I would bet if you could give them the inside dimension of the butt end of your rod, they could find a piece and send it to you as well...
