Location: Sussex, NJ | Hey guys im looking to buy some rod holders for my row boat. Its a 14ft smoker craft and I have a 3hp trolling motor on it becuase the lkaes i fish are electric only. So what kind of rod holders could I mount on my boat permanently or temporarily that will withstand muskies and fit my rods in them? Any help is appreciated thanks! |

Location: minocqua, wi. | downeasters or folbe's ... two completely different styles, both will work and a matter of preference. i use both. folbe's are new to me and i really like them! |

| I purchased the downeasters and they have the clamp which i find pretty convenient. You can remove the holder or keep it mounted, saves you from drilling(not that there's anything wrong with that) holes all over the boat. I might suggest placing some sort of tape around the inner mount bracket and outer flat washer. It might prevent wear and tear on the' ole' boat. Good Luck! |

Location: minocqua, wi. | my downeasters are mounted to a rail on both sides from the cockpit back and they typically stay on all the time, i have folbe mounts drilled to the sides in front so just drop em in and lock em down when i need them otherwise they are stowed. my boat is a fiberglass rig.
i believe both products come with multiple mounting options from clamp, rail and bracket mounting.
i'm definitely much more impressed with the folbe's than scotties for that style of mount if it's your preference. |

Location: Sussex, NJ | Thanks I was looking at folbes side mount brackets. I figure I can mount them on the inside just below the rail. That way there is no chance of them coming off. I lost a setup once used downeasters clamped to the rail. Don't want it to happen agaibv |

| not sure the brand but mine came with a rod holder that mounts in the oar lock. Its threaded and a wing nut goes on the bottom, works great and easily removeable. |

Like I said they came with my boat but I would guess if you googled oar lock mounts or even just asked someone at a sportingoods store you could fine them. |

They work great for suckers though, but I want to get a couple of Folbe's for the back of the boat. |

Yeah it was my first time trolling too. Rod and rod holder went. I dragged the bottom for hours with no luck. Thats why im gun shy about clamp rod holders |
