Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | OK, So I am having issues tuning my new 10" Suick. I have a few 9"ers that I have never had an issue with, but this 10" is giving me troubles. I have watched Steve's video probably 100 times at this point, but no matter what I do it ALWAYS dives left. I can't get it to go straight for the life of me. I spent at least an hour on it the other day while on the water, then tried to do it in the tub at home for another hour or 2... no dice.
Obviously Suick's don't work right out of the box, But are some of them an all around lost cause? Is there nothing I can do? Or maybe is it one of those situations where the more time on the water and use it gets, it will eventually break itself in?
Any thoughts are much appreciated! |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Use less downward bend and more curl on the leading edge of the lure. Also, look at the eye and bend/adjust with a pliers if not absolutely straight. |

| I have one that swings to the left, and caught a fish on it while trying to tune it...lol I just left it, and have caught more fish on suick than any other one I own. |

to go off of SWorrall's comments, you may find you have to bend the eye even further to one side to get it to run straight. When it is tuned, you can get a suik to turn both ways (almost like a walk the dog without the glide) or get it to run vertical depending on the amount of pull and type of pull you give it.
My best Suik has the tail only slightly bent down and the eye is bent well to one side.
A suik is never perfectly balanced due to the characteristic of wood grain. If the grain is not perfect throughout the length of the lure, it will not balance perfectly, thus track to one side. The adjustments above help to offset the imbalance of grain.
It'll be really interesting to see what the molded ones will be like. I'm excited to try those..

| I just sent one back where the eye was actually mounted off center and the wood was cracked.
That was a 12" magnum. |

| So I have a 10" weighted Suick that dives backwards on the pause. It rips down normally but when paused the tail dives down like a reverse crank bait. I have put some weights and heavier hooks on the front and taken off the back hook but it has killed the action to the point I don't waste my time casting it any more. Does anyone have any other suggesstions to get the action back? |

Factory weighted or weighted at home? That could be part of the problem. |

| Factory weighted. I've tried every possible tail angle, from all the way up to all the way down and everything in between. The weight added was in the form of bell sinkers to the front split ring and a 4x heavy 6/0 Mustad hook to the front. I have several other Suicks 9", 10" and 12" weighted and un-weighted and I have had no issues getting any of them to run 'correctly'. This one just wants to tail dive without the added sinkers or bigger hooks. |

Sounds to me like it's a keeper. I've had good success on Suicks that don't "run right". |
