Yes get one! Versatile with its weighting system to make it as deep or shallow as you want. Rolls the belly some too. All of Roger's baits work very well.

Think of a situation where you have or would use a shallow or sinking Mag Dawg, and you'll be thinking of a situation where a Hardhead would most likely work. Being factory weighted, with options for more weight, you can get these lures DOWN, and down in a hurry. Rip them, pop them, straight retreive with pause them. Tail up, Tail down. One weight in front, and/or one in back. Or, weight free for over weeds, or in the rocks. Don't forget about his even bigger Bucketheads, which have been crackin fish for a couple years now. Roger has a nice color chart, and you can mix/match tail colors for a near infinite combo selection. Have fun.

Where do you get a hold of the paddle tails?

Love this bait btw! Hooked a nice ski on my second cast with it.

I admittedly don’t use the paddle as I always forget it is in my box. However I had a monster up on it mid June last summer fishing a 22’ flat on the bottom. Unfortunately I couldn’t convert her. Didn’t use it much after that for some stupid reason. ? Like you said it has a great wobble to it. Did use it in an extreme shallow situation late Aug when the fish decided they no longer wanted to show as much interest in bucktails burned. Burned the HH with the paddletail in 2’ of water and the fish were all over it. Wish I would have thought of that a week earlier in the Alliance tourney as it may have been what we needed after the fish quit chasing the burned tails.

Maybe. I do not have plans to be there at this time but there might be a retailer there with them. I plan on having injection molded BucketHeads by then (will officially introduce them at the Milwaukee show) and might have a few at Chicago depending on if I sleep or not .

The large is now thru-wire (.062 wire) and the new BucketHead will be also (.078 wire) with both being solid plastic.

From a consumer standpoint, the HH is awesome. Except for the tails, they last forever. And even the tails last a LOOOOONG time, because the fish usually hit them on the head. Now, from Rogers standpoint, it sucks for him. They last too long!
The Hardhead will shine in situations where the fish have seen a lot of Bulldawgs as well. It's something different & new for them. The first time throwing a Buckethead out over open water, and it gets hammered in less than 10 casts.

Thanks for the response Roger, I am excited to give them a try but figured I would pick a couple up with the rest of the goodies at the show, If not I will put an order online.

These are a must have in every musky hunters tackle box. Most consistent bait in my boat year after year.

Most everything has been said about these baits already. They can be fished from just under the surface to as deep as you want. Tail up or down makes a difference in the fishing depth and amount of wobble. I have had success on them from opener up till I quit fishing for the year. Like Mr. Musky, they account for a significant number of fish in my boat each year. If you can get your hands on a Buckethead the fish really like them too.

Roger, I think I'll be making it to the Wausau show this year. I hope you're there. I don't have any of your new plastic Hardheads yet and I need some. Really hoping to get a plastic Buckethead too!
