| Does anybody use bass reels such as silver max, pflueger purist, small low profile bass baitcasters for throwing small bucks, small twitchs and bassing size crankbaits? Maybe pair it with a 9' TI MH? |

| 'should' work, but those are cheap reels you listed.
If I were looking for a cheaper reel to do this job I'd look at a Revo S. Good price, alum frame, big gears, simple solid reel. |

| bass pro shop have some pretty good reels for what you asked about. example i have a old pro qualifier with 30# braid that has put many and 7 of my 10 biggest fishing in the boat. used it for 6 years before needing to get it fix. best reels i have ever used for what i used it for. nothing bigger then a mepps musky killer,smaller spinnerbaits and rattle traps. also used it for rapala DT's,big o,bomber long a and like rapalas.
browning medallion,nitro,johnny morris to name a few other but know for not mush more you can get one og the new daiwa lexa |

Location: Wakefield, MI | I have a pair of Revo STX's, work great with my MH 7' Avid with 30lb Power Pro for musky killers, giant killers, and 1/2 oz tandem spinners, put a couple of muskies in the boat with them this year. |

Those pro qualifiers can be stripped of every part, put in a bin full of Revo S parts, and then reassembled. every part interchanges. |

is good to know though. pretty sure their is a couple more that can do the same thing. who makes them do you know. i know the bass pro reels,browning and a few other companies were all made by the same place at 1 time but i just don't remember. thinking guide series was another. |

| I use a abu sx with 50lb power pro for small cranks, jigs, and the smallest spinnerbaits/ bucktails. Its on a flippin stick and I really like it as a light muskie rod. Easy to cast all day when there is no need for the big hard pulling baits. |

Location: Minocqua, WI | I work a Quantum Tour Edition (7.0 ratio) and an Energy SS (7.3 ratio)... Both on 7 1/2ft rods. They are awesome for smaller bucks and downsized baits.
I suggest fast gear ratios on any smaller reels for maximum power & best retrieves. |

What kinda leaders are you guys using with this 30 and 50 pound test line?
40# to 60# braided wire or fluoro. i know you hear all the war stories about lite fluoro but it's just that stories. i have boated well over a 100 muskies with 50# fluoro.. ask any real muskie fly guy. most use 50# fluoro. youtube it. remember to use fluoro leader material not fluoro line. |

A company in Korea spec'd by Pure Fishing (Abu/Pflueger)
Several of the BPS reels were this way (parts interchange), there are fewer now, but still quite a few. Nearly all Revo parts interchange.
Neat thing is that you can buy 5.3 gears for a BPS reel, swap it into a Abu reel you already have, and not spend the big bucks on a Revo Winch |

| You can whip a muskie with a curado 200. However, that doesn't mean it is ideal for the job. I'd much rather have a 300 or similar sized reels from the toro or lexa line ups. |

| I must add I have watched Doug Stange toss smaller bucks and other lures w/ a widespool model pflueger prez / flipping rod combo and I would never question his angling expertize. |

Neither would I, but given that he gets many free reels each year, how would we know that they are any good? I'm sure if a reel breaks during the taping they wouldn't dare air it and make their sponsors look bad, but on the other hand they might be great reels. I don't put much faint in an endorsement by someone that is sponsored by, but rather tend to rely more on your everyday angler who actually bought the equipment. |

| i have been using some of the 12 inch 45lb 7 strands you can get at most bait shops. Other wise 50lb fluro leader or 40 lb tyger wire (tie my own) |

| For one of my lighter setups for Muskie I use a new Shimano Calcutta 201D series reel with #50 power pro super slick, and for the rod, I use a Powell Endurance 7`7 MH Flippin stick that is rated for up to 1 1/2oz but I can still get away with throwing up to 2 oz baits on it. It is a great setup for Musky Killers and all the "smaller" bucktails on the market. Would definitely recommend this setup or something similar to anybody looking for light setups. |
