Location: Chicago western burbs | Im tempted to have the radio with me next Sunday while musky fishing so that we can listen to pro football. I have never done it before. What are your thoughts on having the game on while musky fishing? |

| Listening to a game in the boat on a fall weekend is something I look forward to all season. I haven't noticed any difference in the bite....unless you're stuck with country stations. Country music makes muskies sad and teary-eyed and usually prevents them from eating. If they do eat, they really don't fight because they're so depressed. On the flip side, rock jams and sporting events seem to have the opposite effect. I'm sure a study has been done on it at some point. |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Rage Against the Machine seems to get them going when salmon trolling, the White Sox always lose when I listen when in Canada and I'm not fishing w/o the game on if the Bears are playing. No, no difference catching fish versus not catching fish when the radio is on. |

Location: Chicago western burbs | Great stuff. Radio will be on. I was worried that vibration might effect following fish. Thinking about it though, we usually talk our way through a follower ..."here comes one", "wider turns!" "shes gonna eat!" etc...

| as a common courtesy, if you're going to have it on please don't have it so loud that you know other boats can easily hear it. not everyone on the lake wants to listen to what someone else is playing. |

| Why distract yourself from fishing. And the only thing worst than watching sports on tv is listing to it on the radio. |

And proof in point, all of you are reading this on the Internet, so it must be true! |

| It depends on where I am. Most of the places I fish I'd rather enjoy the scenery, sounds of nature, or just no noise at all. But the crowded urban fisheries? Radio. If they aren't bothered by the trolling motor, jet skiers, and pleasure boaters roaring around all over the place, a little music isn't going to scare them away. |

Nothing cures a Sunday morning hangover like fresh air and The Polka Party. |

Nothin like a bit of Fugazi, BLS, Widespread Panic, Kyuss, or Monster Magnet, or old school Alice Cooper band to get the fish in the mood. |

| Why all this hate on the country music? Do you think I would see more if I turned the station to something that plays Korn, Metallica, or Chilli Peppers? Country is where its at! |

| The muskies I fish on Sunday request Polka Jamborie from 101.9 Wausau. If you can't get in a cadence with a glide bait listening to Polka like "she is too fat for me" by herself she's a group. Then you will never know how to work a bait. |

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Listening to Bob Uecker call a Brewer game on a hot summer evening while sitting in a boat with a cold beverage....Heaven. Don't listen to music much in the boat, maybe some sports talk if we can pick it up. The muskies never seem to mind, and it does break up the monotony during those inevitable dry spells.

| I must be weird, because I never have and never will have a radio in the boat. I enjoy the sounds of being fishing. I usually don't play the radio when I'm in the Jeep either. But Taylor has different ideas, CD's in the Jeep, iPod in the boat, but she's a Beatles fan, so that's OK. We saw Crosby Stills and Nash this summer, now she has all of their songs on there too. "Wow! I can't believe I saw a band that played at Woodstock."
Cool kid. |
