Hi guys, I'm looking to replace the impeller on my Big Foot Pro kicker and found it to be a challenge dropping the lower unit.. Has anyone changed it without a problem..
I read the Instructions from Mercury (4bolts and a gear shift removal) Any help Appreciated. Thanks

Hiya,

When you took out the 4 side bolts, did the lower unit drop or was it still tight to the midsection? If it dropped about 1/2" or so, there will be a connection that needs to be found and undone before the lower unit will drop down. In some cases, that connection is on the bottom side of the engine behind the intake. Many OMC motors of mid range and higher horsepower have this and they can be a bit of a pain to deal with, but can be done.

Now, if the lower unit did not drop down, there is probably another bolt to remove yet, which might be located on the bottom side of the anti-ventilation plate above the prop.

If you are in the twin cities area, I'd be willing to help out with it..
