Location: Waconia, MN | So I have noticed a trend with several lures, Pacemakers is just one example, where fisherman prefer the older wood lures as opposed to the newer plastic ones. Wondering, is there a distinct difference in how they move through the water or what do some people see as the advantages to using the older wood lures as opposed to the newer plastic ones? Thanks! |

Location: WI | I like the small plastic ones. For the bigger sizes I prefer the wood version. The wood ones definately have a different sound. You can really mess with the sound on the plastic ones by changing the size/thickness of the clicker hook. |

The Pacemaker is one of my highest producing topwaters. I've used both the old wood and newer plastic models with success, but I have one old black wood Pacemaker that has caught more musky than any other lure I own. It really is all about the sound ! |
