Location: West Bend, WI | I have a fig rig jawbreaker 8 ft. rod. On a trip the reel started to slide around reel. Now the reel can go all the way around the rod. The whole reel seat moves. Can this be fixed? Is it expensive? |

Location: North/Central WI | Is it actually an old Fig Rig Jawbreaker or is it a Tooth Tamer Jawbreaker? |

Location: South-Central PA | Yes, it can be fixed. I've repaired several rods that suffered from loose real seats- mostly Fenwick Elite Tech bass rods.
You'll need some 30 min epoxy, 1/8" drill bit, and a syringe that is used to dispense liquid medicine to infants- get it at the local pharmacy. Drill several holes in the reel seat at various locations but DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THE ROD BLANK!!!! Mix up your epoxy, put it in the syringe, and inject it in the holes you drilled in the reel seat. Keep injecting epoxy until it comes out of an adjacent hole. Clean up the access epoxy with Denatured Alcohol.
