Location: Greenfield, WI | We were not to optimistic as the temperature fell through the floor as we drove up to Crescent Lake, but following my two basic rules of muskie fishing, we were on the water bright and early the next morning, dragging suckers and casting my ancient prototype Slammer Jerk Bait.
Surprise! Surprise! In spite of wild wind and nasty cold we boated the fattest 43"er I have ever seen on a figure 8. I boated an undersized and had two others up.
We had one legal hit a sucker bobber, but never touched the sucker (these muskies aren't near as smart as we imagine them to be!) and missed one small legal after an intense 0.258 second fight after the sucker hook set!
We ended the weekend with a 17" largemouth impailing itself on my 7" Slammer Jerk Bait.
My two basic rules proved true again!

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sue, Keith, and I didn't hit the water. Sue went up North and watched the Grandkids so her son Paul could hunt, while Keith and I cut 4 cords of wood and stacked it, then headed to the woods for more this early afternoon, cut it and stacked it. When Sue got home today, we sighted in her crossbow with new 16" bolts (deadeye again) and cleaned up the area around the boiler getting it ready for the second load from the logger coming in later this month, then went up on the hill and broke up some maple slats for daytime heating during the warmer weather. My weekend fishing will begin tomorrow afternoon...it will be much nicer out, too. |

Location: Wausau | Seven year old with a 41 from local river/lake.
Baitfish holding on channel edges and current area.
Lost another one about same size as we watched it hit the sucker on the "wrong" side. Tried easing the sucker out of it's mouth, but a she was able to enjoy an 8$ head shake snack.
Yes - after a football victory...oldest son tied though.

| Partner and I boated (6) this weekend from 32 -42 all on suckers. Saw only (3) fish on baits. The wind sure made it a challenge with boat control.

| Caught my 1st muskie ever!!!! 35 inch from Kinkaid in southern Illinois. Smoker SS Squirrelly Shad. Boated another one (37 in) boatside on a figure 8. We boated 4 overall. Chad Cain put us on the fish, even on a tough day with the post-frontal blue skies.
Don't tell my wife, but I am 100% addicted now.

| 37 inches. It's not much, but it's the biggest one I've caught.
