Just want to get your guy's thought's on this reel? I have 4 300E's and was thinking I might like this one for burning bucktails. I use the other one's for throwing swimbaits. Thanks.

I'm the President of the 300EJ fan club. It's great if you want a smaller reel for burning smaller blades (9 and under). It casts like a dream, it's faster then other conventional reels and has nice power. I have 2 300's and would trade them straight up for EJ's all day long.

I fish Tigers only since I'm out in Washington, so smaller bucktails is all I throw.

It is an awesome glider reel too. I actually bought the standard paddle handle used on the 300E and put it on one of my EJ's for gliders/WTD's etc. The extra speed makes a noticable difference up the slack line...

I have a ljv mounted on a st.croix slingblade. It handles double 10's with ease. I'd recommend this set-up for anyone. the reel is smooth as silk and casts a country mile.

Great reel for speed, I prefer it with power handle.

That being said I use my 400TE far more often than the EJ because of it's more versatile. It's basically only reel I use for casting, mostly a troller on Lake Ontario.

Haven't used it on gliders yet. It's on my 9'2" Predator so that's not really a great combo for 6" gliders. You got me thinking about next year though. I may have to pick one up for my jerk bait rod.

I have an ej on my jerk bait rod. I can literally cast the braid right off down to the backing when using hellhounds. I LOVE the Curado. I don't like the disengaging level wind but it's not a deal breaker. I don't throw really anything but jerks with it, so I'm not really sure how it would perform outside of those types of baits.

I have used it heavily this year with Phantoms, Hughes River Gliders, Squirko's, Warlocks, Weagles and The Big Mama WTD bait this year and until something better comes out I think its the best I have used in 30+ years of musky fishing. I have it on a Custom TB Loomis Rod designed for Jerk baits (I stole/mimicked Bob Turgeons creation from two years ago).

EJ - excellent reel. Fast and with it's standard power handle has amazing power considering it's speed and size. I own several 400te's and always considered them the most versatile 'ski reel. I might be wrong on that.I think possibly the ej starts at a lighter point than the te and ends at a point not quite as heavy. Personally I think the ej and tiger musky are like eggs and bacon. Made for each other . imo CPR

Just picked one up. I took off the power handle and put the handle from the E on it, don't care for power handles. I stuck it on my slingblade for throwing dogs and as a back up bucktail rod.
