Well this afternoon I finally actually had a chance to carefully look at the Shimano Tranx reel. It is a nice looking reel and I'm sure it does what it is supposed to do,but I think I'm going to pass on thist reel because of three things. It is just Too big,and Bulky, the Weight is about twice the weight of what I am presently using and the price Tag. Has anyone tried the larger Newer Daiwa Lexa300 HSP reel. It looks to be made very well, and it has a choice of two high speed retrieves just wondering if anyone uses one....Not to expensive either, three of these = 1 Tranx

I have the lefty 300 in the 7.1 gearing. It fits well in the hand, has enough line capacity and has given me no problems ... except--there's a squeak. It comes out after about 90 minutes of casting. I can't find it and it is driving me nuts. It's got to be moisture related, though.
If not for the squeak, I'd have paid $300 and given it five stars. As it is, it's a nice reel that's worth the money but mine has not shown the fit-and-finish of an ABU or Shimano.

The Lexa has a PLASTIC bushing for the Pinion Gear, I wonder if that is your SQUEAK ??????
I got a Lexa 300 in Sept and sold it, I'll stick with the TORO.

Amazing that they would cut corners on a part like the pinion! I'm awaiting your verdict on the Exo after heavy use.
