Does anybody think using colored mono when trolling is a big deal! I normally use braid but this fall heading up to ice up i was going to use 40# Pink or Flo Sunline(only color in 40#) as that,s their heaviest and it,s waterproof from what i,ve read compared to other lines and holds no moisture. I may cast with it as well. For mono i,ve always used Big game in the past and never lost a fish with it but am leaning towards trying Sunline !Last fall I had alot of problems with the eyelets freezing up with braided line. Any imput would be appreciated!
Thanks

Pink Ande is a longtime standard among many Lake Michigan salmon anglers, so I'd have no problems with pink mono, I guess. I haven't had any problems with Sufix 832 freezing up in any size except for the 4-pound. I'm assuming you have modern guides and not old metal ones. Not a fan of the new micro guides precisely for the freezing problem.

Thanks , I prefer 100 # test for casting pounders in the fall and I usually go up to 100# from 80# in the summer .I see they only go up to 80#.Any problems throwing heavy lures? Thanks

I wish the 832 went to 100# as well, I use the 80# and 65# on some of my gear. It was a great dry line when temps were sub freezing last November. For the XXH I used 100# for the big rubber like you are saying. For me the big difference maker is getting a line that has some sort of coating. That seems to help reduce the shower on every cast since it doens't retain as much of the water. The big question on freezing for me is reel power (700TE was the old stand by, I think my Tranx PG will be the new one, but haven't had the opportunity to try it yet) and the every present "which gloves to buy". (I like my Ice Armor pair)
