| How is everyone transporting their suckers with the new ais rules? At 3-8 dollars a pop it makes it hard to throw them out at the landing after a day of fishing. |

| Put them in a bucket or small tank & transport them in your vehicle. I believe the law is that you can't transport them in the livewell of your boat. |

Location: Maine Township, MN | Keep them in a container with the water you arrived at the lake with. Once they have been in the lake water (either fishing with them, or if the've been floating in your livewell) they must be disposed of. That applies to all live bait according to an AIS Inspector who informed me. |

I don't believe that is what the regulations state. For live bait if you want to keep it you are expected to bring different water and keep it in your truck and transfer the bait to that after removing from your bait bucket or live well that was in your boat. Going by that I believe you would do the same thing with suckers. |

Location: Maine Township, MN | I could be wrong, but I think the intent is that is the bait has been in a body of water, it cannot be reused because you could potentially be transporting any microrganisms / parasites that may have attached to the bait. |

Location: West Metro, MN | I have a cooler with a little pump like from an aquarium in it. Only tried suckers twice last fall, but it worked and was able to keep them alive in my garage in that cooler with the pump for 5 days between those 2 trips.

| You need to transport them in your vehicle and as propster stated you need to swap out the water with water that you brought to the lake and remained in your vehicle the entire time. Even if the suckers aren't ever in the lake water (bait bucket in your boat) you still have to do this procedure. |

| The fresh non-lake water exchange is in fact the correct procedure. Suckers do NOT need to be disposed of if they were in lake water. It is not stated in the regs in any way shape or form. Do NOT bellieve anything an AIs inspector or CO tells you regarding live bait read it for yourself in the regs. |

| I jsut use a cooler with some holes drilled in the top and an aerator. Have not had any issues keeping bait alive in that think as long as it is COLD. I then put the buggers in my live well when fishing. After the trip, they go back in the cooler.
As I understand it, the big thing is to not transport any lake water. Not sure how you would swap out water in said cooler after a trip, what would you swap it with if you cannot use lake water? Unless the launch has a hose or something? Seems confusing to me? |

• If keeping bait, you must exchange water in bait buckets with tap or bottled
water prior to leaving any waterbody to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive
species or fish diseases.
The following relates to sucker transport, again word for word from the regs:
• Suckers larger than 12" may only be transported alive in containers that are not
a livewell or other part of a boat and if bought from a licensed facility. Person
must have valid receipt from the facility on their person.

| Agreed, the receipt part is silly. The good part is there is no time frame on the receipt. They used to require it be only a few days old or some B.S. This way you can use one for the entire year. |
