| I have a new Humminbird 798si and a new Lowrance HD5 Lake Insight and I am not sure which unit is better and easier to use, or is it possible to have one in the bow and one in the back. |

| Disclaimer-I have little experience with newer units. Still using X15 Lowrance units.
I've read a bunch about Humminbird being easier to use. IMO, it depends heavily on what you are used to. I understand Lowrance, have been using them for a long time, so the little time I've spent at BPS using the display models I find the Lowrance to be much easier to use.
The only other thing I can add is that the Lake Insight has A TON of lakes with contour lines. I must be missing something here, because it looks like to me if you buy the Lake Insight Lowrance you shouldn't 'need' a chip.
(The chips must be more detailed or something)
One other thing. Lowrance will overlay info on the screen in a way that does not cover the view you receive. The humminbird overlays the info and it blocks the view-essentially you have a smaller than advertised screen.
With that said it seems almost universal Humminbird has better service, and I really like that they are made in the USA. When I do finally upgrade I'll look at the 898 Humminbirds a bunch more than I already have. |
