When you are planning a trip out to the lake and you see East or North East winds in the forcast do you ever adjust your plans, just go with it, or don't think it affects the fishing at all?

Wind direction isnt as important as low pressure or high pressure in the general area you are fishing.

I clearly take a lot of trips trying desparately to win some #*^@ thing somewhere, but when I am not away, I am fishing Pewaukee Lake. I am convinced that when the wind is from the west, I can catch a fish (maybe a couple?) on most days and when the wind is from anywhere else, I am going to struggle. And, I'd also go with E NE maybe being the crappiest of possible selections. On the other hand (like in most things) other guys who are good sticks and also fish this lake think I am full of it. For me, it really does not matter: if work lets me fish and my wife lets me fish...I FISH...rain, cold, wind, moon, fronts whatever. My life, right this moment, doesn't let me follow Gelb's new book and fish EXACTLLY at the best times. One day, however, God willing, that's exactlty what I am going to do! For now, it's just wind and I'm fishing regardless of the letter that defines it.

If the wind is out of the East,Northeast,...and I am allowed or fortunate enough to fish,......Than it's a good day to fish!!!! Period.!

I have spent countless days fishing those winds. All I can say is
we've boated some big fish, and also multiple fish, up to say 12 between 2 boats....

Most guys get down on days like that, don't fish as hard,
aren't positive about what they're doing, Therefore, aren't going
to get the results that maybe they could if they fished in a positive mindset,
like they expect to catch something that day.
look at tourneys, ( exception PMTT GB LOL ) typically no matter how crappy
the conditions, someone always shines. theres always a pattern to uncover,
always a location, always one bait or presentation.
Fish hard, thats all there is.

I fish a lake that seriously turns on in post frontal conditions, bluebird skys,
N-NE-E winds, we have learned this by fishing the heck out of it on
many many occaisions when it was pre-frontal, things were perfect for
one of those awesome musky days, and then nothing happens.

Long story short, fish hard on whatever day you can get out.
1 big fish will change your attitude in a hurry!

I've got one day a week to fish if I'm lucky. Wind, rain, it doesn't matter. I go with what I got.

Cold front conditions n-ne winds I tend to slow down my boat and methodically pick apart spots, multiple passes. It can get sucky those days but fish hard and be glad you're out there because in 3 months well all be dying to fish an east northeast wind when we are looking at our favorite lake. Frozen.

Heck; I had E/NE tonight. Boated 4, and missed one. All inside of 2 hours.

I normally find the east/NE winds to be tough more so in the spring, May and June. Then, it is more so, the first day it switches to NE, or East that fishing is tough for me. After turnover, NE winds don't seem to have much bearing.

Case in point; Talked to a friend that fished yesterday. He said he moved 5 fish prior to winds swithing to NE. Once it switched...NADA.  Fishing deeper may help your cause.

Like previous posters, fish when you can. There are some adjustments you can make, as well as tekneek! Try downsizing!!!
