| What are the strangest things that you caught that were not fish? I caught spinning reel and rod on Lake Holcombe trolling a muskie bait. It just got me wondering what other people have caught in there lifetime that weren't fish? |

| My buudy caught a pipe bomb in the Lilttle Calumet River in Indiana--fishing for steelhead. He has also caught a shopping cart------ a dresser drawer---and a chainsaw. His father caught a black bra--- perch fishing on the Chicago lakefront----- he still waiting for the woman who was wearing it.-----Jobu |

EEK!
The spincast fishing rod I caught when I was a little kid doesn't compare to that! |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | Was out doing some bottom fishing for bass a few years ago on a popular ice fishing lake. Got a hit, let her run, set the hook and started reeling... At the end of my line was a brand new still in plastic $75 ice fishing rod and reel combo, line was still around the line holder. I guess someone dropped it down a hole during the hard water season before they even had a chance to use it. It is still my favorite ice rod to this day, and the nicest one I own... Thanks to whomever dropped it, you have caught me many ice fish over the last 4 years! |

Quite the embarrasment when fishing in front of moored yahts with people all out on the back deck watching and enjoying the fight... It was a good laugh, though...

| I hooked a rope once that was attached to a noose that was around the neck of a baby horse (I guess they are called a foal). I guess the foal died and someone didn't want to have to dig a hole big enough to bury it and thought it was easier to just throw it over the hillside (that went right into the lake). |

Was out fishing about 3 weeks ago and had a HUGE beaver go into my L turn. I thought It was a huge musky, I pulled the bait out of the water so fast when I saw the GIANT head. I think I peed it off, cause it came to the top of the water and slapped its tail against the water a number of times. Then swam to the other side of the boat and slapped it some more, so we moved on. But when I saw what it was I am pretty sure a little bit of poop came out...

Caught a few rods, and some stray lures. Best one ever was an electrical cable running out to an island. Never even thought about how they got power out there until that day. Did the same thing on Vermilion. Had to giggle when all the lights in the mansion on the island would flicker every time I pulled on the rod. |

Location: Not far enough north! | I caught a mallard while bluegill fishing when I was a kid dove right under and grabbed my worm. The funnest one though was a muskrat on a pacemaker after dark. You know the time when the water is glass still and you see a big V coming up behind the lure and get the adrenelin going. I said " Follow" then a couple seconds later he hit but was fighting really strangely. Got it to the boat and flipped on the headlamps and there he was hooked in the foot chewing the crap out of a perfectly good lure. Now talk about nervous while unhooking just glad we had some heavy leather gloves... |

| I caught a pair of flannel pants once. Also, me and a few friends had a good laugh when I let my bulldawg sink just a little too far and picked up an old soggy branch off the bottom of the lake. It was hooked just right that it swayed back and forth during the "fight," so I thought for sure it was a fish. I also had a monster blue heron attack a Seducer, but he didn't get hooked. I can't imagine trying to unhook that thing...
And as a kid I once watched a guy (who was always a complete a** to everyone at the fishing hole) catch a piece of tar in the river at a public pier. He thought he had a monster walleye on with the current providing just a little bit of pull. I think every single person there laughed at him. |

I caught what turned out to be a X-mas tree cemented in a 5 gallon bucket wrapped in chicken wire on Pewaukee. Keopp brought it up and it was full of lures. Come to think of it he never gave me mine back. Fought good l had a friend of mine with the net for 10 minutes waiting, LOL

The walleye stringer, that wasn't at Kinkaid was it? We've actually done that a couple of times, you'd think we'd learn at some point.....
Caught many strange things, clothing, condoms, pine trees, an alligator while bass fishing in the Everglades, that thing was pist! An iron chair, dozens of anchors and rods with fish (dead) on them but the coolest one has to be, from what I was told was a jaw bone of a moose estimated to be 300-600 yrs. I can't be totally sure about any of that but is a jaw bone and it was an eye opener!
One of these days we'll get a diver down and check out if there's anything else there.
It's hooking into a body that freaks me out, not looking forward to that!

| I have caught a pelican, a brand new rod and reel, the frame of a sunken ice shanty (the only reason I know is I swam down to unhook my favorite lure), an old willies jeep that was lost many moons ago through the ice (also swam down to unhook a lure) on the bay of green bay and when I was a kid I caught my grandpa in the cheek at a fly in resort in Canada. And last week I hook a fatty dirty diaper out of milwaukee. |

| i've landed old punch-top beer cans, tires, boot, lawn chair with zebra mussels, several nice muskie lures, a muskie rod and reel dropped by my boat partner (had to work the "spot" for 30 minutes)
My fishing buddy landed a 20 pound mushroom anchor
My son got a rusty crayfish
My favorite was about 30 years ago, trolling for muskies on a windy fall day. I hooked the rope which connected both pieces of an old metal perforated bait bucket. Turned off the outboard and fought the bucket for 10 minutes while drifting in the wind, could even feel the "monster" head-shaking!

| I dropped a nice walleye combo in about ten feet of water on a windy day. As we drifted away I took my buddies pole with a 1/4 jig and casted in the general direction of the rod. I snagged the very last eye on my first and only chance as we were drifting away! |

Location: Waconia, MN | I had a seagull take a Topwater WTD bait, didn't know what to do. Once it got about 40 feet in the air I decided to try to pull it out its mouth, hooked it in the wing and sent it crashing back down to the water. After thrashing around for a good 20 seconds I decided to give it another good tug to see if I could free the hook. Luckily that worked and the bird flew off. This was a while back and I was fishing from a dock, there was a father there with his young child, he was covering his sons eyes.
I also trolled up a drift sock, thought it was the fish of a lifetime! It was darting left and right and didn't know what I had for about 5 minutes. Boy was I disappointed! |

| We went fishing on the root for steelhead for 5 yrs. My Dad couldn't catch a steelhead on his fly rod. We all come home with couple for the smoker and release bunch. But, he couldn't even get a tap. Last trip we made he finally yelled for me for help. I came over and noticed something was on his line and flashed in the current. He finally caught one!!!
A couple seconds later I notice something was different about this fish. As I went out to help land the fish, I almost peed myself. He was so excitied I couldn't tell him. I landed it.
He landed a 17" hub cap of a cadillac!! I told him "Well, you caught the cadillac of all fish!!"
Of course we got it mounted and gave it to for Christmas |
