Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | So I was thinking last night about my preferences as far as lures are concerned. I (like some) have been hit by the blade craze... I am using this year to get better at lures like Suicks, glides and twitch baits. Even though I try to give other baits plenty of time in the water I tend to go back to blades... and of course to makes thing worse for me trying to use other stuff, when I go back to blades I catch or see fish... Lets say for research purposes that bucktails were never invented. NO single bladed baits, NO DC10 or any variation of. Lets also say that we are only allowed one lure in the boat by law.
So my question is, If you could only choose ONE lure to use for the rest of your life under any circumstances or any body of water, what would it be??
Personally I would have to go with a muskie treat. Black body with a red/white tail. (one side is red, the other is white) I just love to work this bait, love watching it come to the boat and the action can change on any cast... never is one cast the same as the other. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | That's easy- 9" Alien in hot fluorescent pink. Indestructible, and can be fished top water to +50'. I have so much fun with this bait, I seriously don't know why I throw other lures! I'd tell you about all the fish it's caught or attracted to the boat, but then I'd have to shoot you. LOL
Have fun!

Location: Hayward, WI | Easy question for me. HARDHEAD in the 8 oz size. Can choose many colored tails to put on it but if I had only 1 color choice it would be walleye Hardhead with a rootbeer Kalins tail.
Fishes anywhere from the surface to as deep as you want with the screw in weight system. Can be fished fast or slow, from spring to fall. Has a nice wobble on the pull and the drop/pause. Durable, hook up very well, and fish pound them.

| Easy.... A Red October Tube. Can burn it, jig it deep, WTD w/ it, work it shallow and deep. The most versitile bait on market and they work all the time. I find myself fishing an entire season with my boat loaded with tackle and really only use 5-7 baits all season.... A tube is by far the 1 bait I want attached to my rod |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Wabull. I can work it along the top, make it dart and weave, make it swing side to side, and the thing catches fish all year long.
Even choice would be a #8 Indiana bladed 3/4 ounce spinnerbait, since you were talking bucktails and the like being out. |

| blades including spinnerbaits are like "crack" for muskies... in way to many instances its your best option ,but if I could only pick one other bait I probably pick a Pounder, DDD a close second. |

| There should be a section for great muskie sayings, in the last post is a classic:-
"spinnerbaits are like "crack" for muskies... in way to many instances its your best option".
Right on the money!
I'll take a 2.5 oz, .062 wire, with a single #10 colorado attached to a barrel swivel as my choice maybe with a Kalin Big 'N or Berkley Power Bait Offshore grub as a trailer. Good for casting or trolling and if I only had one lure to use, even if inline bucktails are allowed, it would be that spinnerbait.
If you want something interesting to try...take out 2 of these (one plus a spare) and use nothing else for a couple of days...experiment with retrieves including ripping as fast as possible; I think you'll like the results. |

Location: Ludington, MI | Gotta go unweighted black 9-inch Suick. You can put a sinker on the middle hook hanger and bend the tail for depth, you can flatten out the tail to work it high and even on lakes where you know they've seen a ton of Suicks, they still whack 'em.

Location: Eastern Ontario | douj is your Believer straight or jointed? they would also be my two favourites but I like the 9 inch firetiger suick which I think casts more acurately because it dosent sail like an airplane wing which the 10 inch seems to do. I also like the straight 8 inch firetiger Believer. |
