Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | It's been a long wait and I apologize for the masses for making you suffer a long wait. Now that it's here, you might not be so anxious....
Thanks to Shimano for bringing us this contest, and now it's on!!! Here's the rules, you answer the most right, you win a prize. You answer the LAST answer, you win a prize. The two prizes are a brand new Shimano Calcutta 400D and a Shimano Calcutta 400B. Which winnner is which...we'll let you know when we're done!
Quick tutorial: this isn't a question and answer type trivia contest, NO, that's too easy. This is a basic fill in the blank kind of contest. There are 2 paragraphs filled with fun trivia, you can probably figure out the subject matter of each, but you have to figure out what word/phrase/number/date/year/etc. goes in each blank.
Example: Steve _____ (1) is a ____ (2) ___ (3) man.
Now with answers: Steve Worrall (1) is a crazy (2) old (3) man.
Here's how you play: post your answer(s) with a the right word/phrase/number/date/year/etc. and a number next to it, in order if you can. The first person to post the correct answer gets credit for that answer. I will be tracking the number of answers each person gets right (and remember the person with the MOST right answers is our first winner) and periodically (hoping for every night, but could be every other because I am lazy, busy, and like seeing people struggle) filling in the blanks on THIS thread with the name of the person that answered the question right and the right answer. First person to post the right answer gets credit. The LAST person to answer the LAST blank(s) wins also.
I know it's not an easy one, I know it's going to take some work to win...but imagine, I just cut out a whole paragraph that would have been another 75 blanks!!! If you have questions, PM me!
Good luck, have fun, and thank you Shimano for the great prizes!!!
This should be fun to watch!

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Well, I've got good news and bad news....
Good News: lots of right answers so far!!!
Bad News: SHE AIN'T DONE YET!!!
I have copied in where we are at now...and you crazy kids can do the work to finish this!!!
Not sure if we have a MOST answers winner yet, but I DO KNOW that we DO NOT have a last answer winner. And since I'm not sure yet which prize goes to which winner...
Here is where we have gotten SO FAR:
Our sponsor, Shimano, was first established in 1921 (1 – catch and release) as SHIMANO (2 - Yooper) IRON (3) WORKS(4 - yooper) by SHOZABURO(5 - Yooper) Shimano. First manufacturing BICYCLES (6 - PeonPETA) FREEWHEELS (7 - PeonPETA), the company boomed until the Great (8 catch and release) Depression (9 – catch and release) forced a suspension of business in 1929(10 – Vince Weirick) . But, production began again with the production facilities moving to _____ (11), ____ (12). Affected by AIR (13 – oconoesox) RAIDS (14 PeonPETA) in 1945 (15 – PeonPETA), the company first began the manufacture of whole BICYCLES (16 - PeonPETA) in 1946 (17 - PeonPETA) and officially changed the company name to Shimano INDUSTRIAL (18 - yooper), CO. (19 - yooper) in 1951 (20 - PeonPETA). In ____ (21) SHIMANO (22 – PeonPETA) AMERICA (23) was established and the company first went into the FISHING (24 - PeonPETA) industry in 1970 (25 - PeonPETA) when the FISHING (26 – PeonPETA) TACKLE (27 - PeonPETA) DIVISION (28 - PeonPETA) was created. In 1988 (29 - PeonPETA), the company began fishing operations in EUROPE (30 – Chad V), in 1997 (31 – Chad V) stock of G.LOOMIS (PeonPETA) is acquired and POWER (33 - Oconoesox) PRO (34 - oconoesox) was eventually brought into the fold. The Calcutta (35 - curleytail) D (36 - curleytail) SERIES (37 - curleytail) is now the newest in the CALCUTTA (38 - curleytail) series which began in 1991 (39 – Chad V). The D (40 - curleytail) now incorporates a VARIABLE (41 - PeonPETA) BRAKE (42 - PeonPETA) SYSTEM (43 - PeonPETA) and better “in hand” comfort with the _____ (44) BODY (45 - curleytail) DESIGN (46 - curleytail). The ____ (47) series will crank ____ (48) inches of LINE (49 – catch and release) PER (50 – catch and release) CRANK (51 - curleytail) and the 400 (52 - PeonPETA) Series (53 – PeonPETA) will crank 27 (54 - PeonPETA) INCHES (55 – catch and release) of line.
According to legend, the ANCIENT (56 - PeonPETA) OLYMPIC (57 - PeonPETA) GAMES (58 – PeonPETA) were founded by HERACLES (59 - PeonPETA ) (the Roman HERCULES (60 - PeonPETA), a son of ZEUS (61 - PeonPETA). Yet the first OLYMPIC (62 – Vince Weirick) Games for which we still have written records were held in 776 (63 – Vince Weirick) BCE (64 -PeonPETA) (though it is generally believed that the GAMES (65 – Vince Weirick) had been going on for many years already). At this Olympic Games, a NAKED (66 – Vince Weirick) runner, COROEBUS (67 – Vince Weirick) (COOK (68 – Vince Weirick) from ELis), won the sole event at the Olympics, the STADE (69 – Vince Weirick)- a run of approximately 192(70 – Vince Weirick) METERS(71 – Vince Weirick)(210 yards). This made COROEBUS(72 – Vince Weirick) the very first Olympic champion in history. The ancient Olympic Games grew and continued to be played every 4 (73 – Vince Weirick) years for nearly 1200 (74 – Vince Weirck) years. In 393 (75 - PeonPETA) CE, the Roman emperor THEODESIUS (76 – catch and release) , a CHRISTIAN (77 - PeonPETA), ABOLISHED (78 – PeonPETA) the Games because of their PAGAN (79 - PeonPETA) influences. Though not the first to think of reviving the games, a young FRENCHMAN(80 – Vince Weirick) named PIERRE de COUBERTIN (81), put forth to reinstitute the Olympics as a chance to create more physically fit _______ (82) whom he blamed the loss of the FRANCO (83 –Vince Weirick) – Prussian (84 – Vince Weirick) war as not a defeat because of tactics, but because of a “lack of VIGOR (85 – Vince Weirick)”. The very first MODERN (86 - PeonPETA) OLYMPICS (87 – catch and release) Games opened in the first week of APRIL (88 – Vince Weirick) 1896 (89 – Vince Weirick) in ATHENS (90 – Vince Weirick) , GREECE (91 – Vince Weirick). The events consisted of POLE (92 - PeonPETA) VAULTING (93 - PeonPETA), sprints, shot Put (94 – catch and release), WEIGHT (95 - PeonPETA) lifting, swimming, CYCLING (96 – PeonPETA), TARGET (97 - PeonPETA) shooting, TENNIS (98 - PeonPETA), marathon and GYMNASTICS (99 - PeonPETA) were all events at the first Olympics. The next games were held in PARIS (100 - PeonPETA), then St Louis (101 - PeonPETA) followed by LONDON (102 - PeonPETA) then STOCKHOLM (103 – PeonPETA). The games have been cancelled in 1916(104 - curleytail) , 1940 (105 - curleytail), and 1944 (106 - curleytail) because of WORLD (107 - curleytail) WAR (108 - curleytail) I (109 - curleytail) and World War II. Notable accomplishments include JESSE (110 – Vince Weirick) OWENS (111 – Vince Weirick) winning 4 (112 – Chad V) GOLD (113 – Chad V) MEDALS (114 – Chad V): the 100 (115 – Vince Weirick)-meter dash (116 – Vince Weirick), the LONG (116 – Vince Weirick) JUMP (117 – Vince Weirck) (made an Olympic record), the 200(118 – Vince Weirick)-meter SPRINT (119 – Vince Weirick) around a turn (made a world record), and part of the team for the 400 (120 – Vince Weirick) -METER (121 – Vince Weirick) RELAY (122 – Vince Weirick). During the 1968 (123 – PeonPETA) Olympics TOMMIE (124 - PeonPETA) SMITH (124 - PeonPETA) and John CARLOS (125 - PeonPETA) (both from the USA (126 – Curleytail)) won the GOLD (127 - PeonPETA) and BRONZE (128 - PeonPETA) medals, respectively, in the 200 (129 PeonPETA)-meter race. When they stood (BAREFOOT (130 – Chad V)) upon the victory platform, during the playing of the "STAR (131 - PeonPETA) SPANGLED (132 – PeonPETA) BANNER (133 - PeonPETA)," they each raised ONE (134 – Chad V) FIST (135 - PeonPETA), covered by a BLACK (136 - PeonPETA) GLOVE (137 - PeonPETA), in a BLACK (138 – Chad V) POWER (139 – Chad V) SALUTE (140 - PeonPETA). This act, since it went against the IDEALS (141 – Chad V) of the Olympic Games, caused the two athletes to be EXPELLED (142 – Chad V) from the Games. During these games, Dick FOSBURY (143 - curleytail) debuted the “FOSBURY (144 - curleytail) FLOP (145)”, BOB (146 - PeonPETA) BEAMON (147 - PeonPETA) won the LONG (148 – Chad V) JUMP (149 – Chad V) with an Olympic record of 8.90 (150 - PeonPETA) meters, and drug testing was first introduced.
