Raza glass rod??

Subject: Raza glass rod??


I hope some one can help. I bought a fishing rod at an estate sale because i thought it was the neatest thing. After showing a fellow fisher-buddy the rod he said I had something special but doesnt have a clue about it. It has "Raza Glass Rod #116" written in black on it. He told me it was definatley a muskie rod. The handle is wooded with rings cut into it. There is a large rubber cushion on the end. The thread around the eyes are red and yellow. I can not find anything about a company or a person named Raza. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you very much!!

Location: Smith Creek		If it's a wooden handle with a rubber cushion on the bottom it is a saltwater boat rod. 95% of saltwater boat rods made in the 60's and 70's have handles exactly like you describe. Wood is more resistant to corrosion and the rubber is protect the butt (of the rod) when its in a fighting harness. Doesn't mean it wasn't used for muskies, but it wasn't built for that.
On the plus side, the rod should provide you years more use.
But, glass rods were mass produced in that era and regardless of who tied the guides on it's probably not worth much of anything.
