Stop in at Smokey's and get a couple of suckers for sure. Ask the guy working the counter about recent patterns/baits. Good luck!

Yes, and they have a launch right at the shop. Hands down my favorite bait/tackle shop!

Pewaukee,
There's never any guarantees in catching no matter how consistent the weather pattern but when weather is unstable we must think "water color".

Pewaukee has a lot of pluses, #'s, there are "3" well defined, slap you up side the head breaklines, presenting lures is relatively easy and probably the most important thing when fishing this lake, all depths are reachable (the fish can't get away).

On the down side and this is big, though I've been in NM all week what I hear from the spoonpluggers back home is you've been getting fronts roll through one after another making catching tough if you dont have them located.
The live or dead bait, "slow speed fishing" advice may be good, I get it but I personally wouldn't do it if I had to get my buddy a fish, especially if we only had one day on a lake but that's just me, anyway if your gonna use bait, you better know the "exact spots" to place the bait. Under these tough conditions, exactness is a must.

I hate to be gloom and doom but the combination of bad weather and Pewaukee's clear water could make things real tough tomorrow. It wasn't that long ago when the weeds only came out to 9'-10'..... Oh, the good old days....

Jim, your the man on the P, what else? How was lotw?

IMO I'd drive a bit farther and go to Green Bay,,,,  WATER COLOR is the most important "Choice" in successful fishing a fishermen can make!

Got a friend a 34 on Friday. Saw 8 and missed one of Saturday. Found two recently deceased muskies on Friday morning. One was 41 or so, the other was 34 or so.

There are fish to be caught out there, even with the fronts, just gotta put in the time. For me, there was no real pattern as a little bit of everything is producting right now. Deep, shallow, casting, trolling...etc. Fish aren't concentrated yet.

So I just got back with a goose egg. Saw 2 little ones. That's it. One on a pink hardhead n other gold showgirl. Saw lots and lots of schools of gills near the surface in 10-15 ft water and tons of float weeds on the surface. Every other cast you would have them on the lure. What a pain in the arse. Crazy a 15 mph west wind can create such huge waves on the east end which made fishing the narrows and rocky point tough. I'll get back to her some other time.

Pewaukee has been on fire the whole season. Many 2 - 7 fish outings. Most fish in the 35 - 46 " range. Very few skunks this season. Hire one of the guides that exclusively guide this lake. You will start to learn how to catch pewaukee's ski's.

JerryB; LOTW's was good. Boated 24. Mrs. got the big one 49.5 On a Headbanger.
Most fish came on headbangers, and Blades. I miss the real good fisherman on Pewaukee like yourself. Glad you are not on pewaukee anymore...My #'s are up. LOL

Lots of juvenile fish on Pewaukee now. Catches are good, but size is down. Still waiting for the big ones to show up.

Hey JD,
Nice job at lotw, you two always kick butt and its always a good thing when the little lady lands the big one! Got a pic?

And what are you saying, we didn't keep too many. That study they did back then where the brain surgeons used "metal tags" which made an open sore on the backs of more than 600 muskies probably caused a few premature deaths. ..... Did they ever raise the size limit out there, wasn't it 34"? We fished there last year a couple of times, (didn't keep any) ha ha and did get one good one, only 50+ of that year came from Pewaukee. Heading to Canada soon and so looking forward to it!
