.Okay, so I lost function of my keyless ignition on my 05 619, so I purchased a standard Evinrude key harness and plugged the harness into that to get the ignition system running and motor started....thinking this might be the cause of my fuel gauge issue...anyhow, so the gauge reads full even when the tank is nearly empty. Went to the sender unit and pulled the pink and the gauge dropped to empty. Jumped it to the ground and the gauge jumped to FULL, FULL, even past where it was when reading full. According to what I have read this should indicate the gauge is working as it should so I purchased a new sender. Connected the pink and the ground as they should and get the same reading as the old sending unit, full. So, I guess its not the sender.

...oh yeah...I pulled the original sender and moved the float...that has no impact on the gauge. Same with the new sender.

The back of the gauge has four wires going in...ground, pink and two others...(I'm thinking light and not sure of the other..). I'm thinking to alligator clip a lead from the terminal on the gauge for ground and clip the other end directly to the ground on the sender and then to the same with the pink to see if it reads correctly then, but am not sure if that theory holds water....

Any thoughts appreciated...I tried tracing the wire harness from the back of the gauge, but the ground leads into a crimp with some other grounds and exit the crimp to four more grounds...basically a spaghetti maze under there....unless there is something simple, I'm ready to take it in December 1.
