I need to get a lightweight rod to work my walk the dog type baits better. I love the Mojo bass rods for the money and was looking at the one with the stats below. Any thoughts on this rod for the application? It'll mostly be Rapalas and some smaller lures, no blades.

I just handled this exact rod the other day. Its a great rod for smaller rapala slash baits and such, but pretty flimsy in the tip in my opinion. I think they make another one thats like 7'11 xh swimbait but im not exactly sure...that one may have more backbone than the 7'9.

I like a shorter rod for walk the dog type baits, maybe it's just a personal preference but I have a cheap st croix triumph 7ft h or xh rod that is perfect for jerks. Someone on here is selling a 6'9" legend tournament jerkbait rod for a very good price and it's making me think twice as we speak. I don't think musky fishing requires the sensitivity those blanks have, the eyes always want!

I may look at the Triumph series too. I wish some place local had the Mojos instock but Bass Pro is pretty limited.

I own the following rod. It works great for the applications you list, big fish will make it fun also. I have found them on sale at multiple outlets lately for around 89-99.00

The Mojo Musky or Mojo Bass that I listed? I looked at the Mojo Musky but thats a decent bit more weight.

I've got a couple of these Mojo Bass rods that I use in the spring with rattle traps. They are a bit to light IMO for all but the smallest gliders/ twitch baits. They work great with the 4" phantoms and all but the largest X-rap baits. I almost always have one in the boat...but, it's usually rigged with a SPRO frog for bass! I have a St. Croix premier 7' 6" MH musky rod with a handle extension that works great for WTD type baits.

If there is a dick's sporting goods near you, I would suggest checking them out. They have those triumph rods on sale a lot. I got mine for $80 plus a free hoodie.

I have the 7'11" mojo bass flipping rod for a light weight setup. It works the kinds of baits you are talking about with ease, and it has quickly whipped the snot out of every musky it has come accross.

Our Dicks dont carry any hunting/fishing anymore. I looked at the Swimbait rod at bass pro. Seemed like the balance was off for ease of action as a WTD rod. I did like the balance of a Premier Muskie 6'6" they had. Not sure how it would perform but balance was about as good as I could ask for. Your thoughts?

I have the rod your looking at at it is pretty much the same blank as the MH musky mojo just no fore grip and a smaller reel seat. I really like mine. I have been using it for the rapala walk 13 as well as prop topwaters and small bucktails and jigs. Its a good rod for what your looking for.
