I think I'm going to get a Tackle Industries Mag Heavy XM Telescopic 9' rod and was looking for some advice to what reel I should get.

I agree if you settle for a cheap reel its just going to catch up on you when you least expect it. i found the revo toro 60 regular and H.S. online for $212 and i my self just bought the last 2 shimano calcutta 400 te reels at BPS by my house. Those were a little more $ but they are AWSOME pieces of equipment. Make sure you try the reel on your rod to see if it feels good. It depends on how you grip the reel as well. Its your hard earned $ get what feels the best remember there will be days of 8 to 10 hours of fish and you dont want to have tired hands in a few short hours. just my thoughts. GOOD LUCK

I have a calcutta 400 te, curado 300 ej, and quite a few garcia 6500s. The garcias see little to no action. The calcutta is the real deal. The curado is great but a little more "moody" than the calcutta. I use the curado for walk the dog lures and burning tens as the low profile is much much more forgiving on the hands than the calcutta. The calcutta is very hard to backlash, the curado, like I said is a little more tricky at times but still a great reel once you accustom yourself to it.
