| My current boat is too large to get on some smaller waterways I'd like to fish and my friend has a jet boat we use, but I need something I can use when I need it and I need room for the wife and kid. I'm a Lund junkie and I'd really like to stick with one. I'm considering getting an SSV 16 with side console and a 40hp Mercury jet. I know this isn't ideal as a jet but it'd give me the stability and safety I would like, especially with small kids on the boat. The boat is as light or lighter than many jonboats on the market in a similar length and should float around 6-8". I'm not running through abunch of crazy rocks and such, just some shallow points I may have to cross in under a foot of water and some shallow shoals. A prop for sure won't go where I need, that is for certain. So your thoughts? | |

Location: Elk River, Minnesota | I'd say you'd be good to go. A john boat would have a shallower draft, but the older lund boats that were flat in the rear would do fairly well too. I think you'd be o.k
