| Can someone tell me how to fish a bulldawg?

Location: Maine Township, MN | They've worked for me on muskie and big pike in the fall by jerking them. I cannot for the life of me get anything on one in the spring or summer. Haven't tapped into that pattern yet. |

Yes.
Early in the spring for smaller fish use a "Mirco Dawg" and just reel them straight in. I stopped using them one day because they were just getting sucked in way too far. They don't last long either. I had one fish spit the tail out halfway back to the boat. |

| You can fish them in on a straight retrieve, and can vary the speed every cast.
You can count them down if you want to fish deeper. A steady slow retreive keeps them deep.
But i don,t know about you, but when i am straight retreiving, i dont feel like fishing.
I want to jerk, rip, make a drop after a speed burst etc. Otherwise i just cant keep up the spirits.
But the dawgs work every way you fish them, like said above, you cant fish them wrong.
Even the falling bird technique works sometimes :p |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | Personally I don't use dawgs or dussa's all that much. Usually when I am using rubber or soft plastic I stick with the Shadzillas'. But when I do use dawgs or dussa's I like to mix and match my retrieves. I don't just do a straight retrieve, I also don't just do the jerks. Some times I will reel in straight half the way, pause and let it fall, give it 1-3 good rips then a straight retrieve into the figure 8. That is just one of the ways that I like to use them. But I try all different kinds of ways to fish with them. Though I don't use them all that often I do believe that they are one of the most versatile lures out there. Like said plenty of times above, there is not a wrong or bad way to use them. |

| Any one read the article in the last In-Fisherman on Bondy baits.....
They suggested to chuck them high up into the air to call fish into the area (especially the larger ones) and hope that their curiousity gets the best of them by creating as much noise as possible. I bet that works super well in stained water and with bulldawgs. I haven't been out in a while to try it, but it's the same technique just different bait. Maybe a retrieve more like the bondy bait with the bulldawg would work well. |

| Finally caught one  , I was fishing from shore jerking it up and down 4 feet from shore a 32"er comes from the bottom it's mouth open and inhales the dawg. |

| my favorite retrieve is the swoop! just lob it as far as ya can let it sink to the desired depth and then simply point your rod tip in the direction of the lure and swoop it as far to the right or left as you can and reel up the slack point it at the bait again and swoop. Think ya get the point. but its my fav. technique especially in the fall! GOOD LUCK! |
