I have a minnkota terrova. The motor when placed in the water comes unhinged. I run it fairly hard in between casts as I do not like to have the vibration of the motor going when im getting into my figure 8. So this tends to jerk the motor and shaft when I hit the "gas" There is a bar that runs across the motor which the head attaches to. The bar is slightly bent, and has been for quite some time, but just recently the motor will unhinge when I give it juice. Do I need to replace the bar, bend it if at all possible, or is my hinge on my motor head bad? Any experience and suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Can you straighten that bar? Sounds like it's bent far enough that the latch isn't latching anymore.

If you can't starighten it, it may have to be replaced, and possibly some other items. Might be time for a trip to your local authorized repair center.

Ed Schilling in West Allis, WI does great work.
