Location: Michigan | Does anyone use spinning gear in the early season when tossing some smaller baits? If so, what are some good spinning rods for throwing smaller baits? I throw some really small baits in the spring (4" twitch and jerkbaits) and it gets to be a pain working them on baitcast gear after awhile. It seems like it would be much easier on the body to work with spinning gear, and I would get better action out of the bait. Not looking for anything fancy, just a decent rod to use for the first couple weeks of the year. |

Location: Detroit River | The Bass Pro Shops CatMaxx CMX Series Spinning Rods are good. Put a salt water reel on it as well. I've been told that the Cabelas Salt Striker reels are good.

Location: Sycamore, IL | St.Croix 7' Heavy Premier is a great rod for small twitch baits and creature type presentations. I have a Shimano Sahara 4000 on mine, but wish I would have gone with a 3000 or 2500 size real instead.
