Subject: revo toro winch tension knob

I have the winch 61 that is about 3 months old. From day one, the tension knob did nothing - I can turn it all the way up and the spool still turns freely. I have no problem using it, but would like for it to work the way it is supposed to. Took the knob off and all looked good.
Has anyone else experience? Any solutions?

Are you talking about the star drag Or magnetic breaking system?

Otherwise focus more on the magnetic breaking system (if thats not what your already talking about) Mess with that a little bit and see if it helps. Turn it up and down and see if it changes how much the spool spins. Otherwise make sure your drag is tight and the reel is engaged. I know that I used to have issues with me reel not being fully engaged and it would just spin and spin. Once I figured out that, that was my issue, I stopped having problems

Its the mechanical brake used for adjusting the spool tension per lure weight.

Part numbers 56-64

Everything else on the reel works fine.

Thanks for the reply!

Try a drop of reel oil in there. I do this annually when I clean my reels, and it is recommended by the service guys I have talked to. Not sure if it will help you, however.

I would say you are missing one of the washers from the cap ????
is the spool in the center of the frame ??? or off to one side ????

When I tighten the tension knob all the way the spool is offset to the right side (the opposite side of the tension knob) and there is no lateral movement. When I loosen the tension knob the spool does not move by itself, but I can move it laterally with my thumb. There is about 1/32nd lateral movement when the tension knob is set at half way, and about 1/16th of movement when set loose.

Thanks for the replies.

I would say the left side and or the right side washers are worn out or are misssing. I get $24.00 a reel plus parts, plus $7.00 return shipping. I can fix it for you and Tune and Detail and Relube your reel the right way if you can't fix it yourself.

Thanks for the info PIKEMASTER. I will try to fix it myself. If you could be so kind and tell me the washer's part numbers, that would be a big help.

For the spool tension knob you will need #61 Part # 1125770 #62 Part # 1125771
ck to make sure you have Part # 60 1125769 and #59 Part # 1125768
Then on the other side of reel the cover that slides open # 92 Part # 1125797
you have to remove the 3 screws # 94 to get to the washer for that side, then make sure the brake plate is seated down and the cliker Pawl is in the slot then tighten down the 3 screws # 94. Now your spool should be center in the frame and you should be able to slow down the spool with the spool tension knob.
