Winterizing tip thread.

Its time to do that if you have not already!

****************************
1)I put in stable in my gas tank and take my plugs out and spray my clinders up.

2)I put anti freeze in all my livewells and livewell overflow traps.

Any more things one should do?

I usually clean and scrub it out before I put it away, that way in the spring I can load and go for the first walleye chance I get. I also bring my batteries indoors and store on a shelf and keep them on a float charger.

1) Change the gear lube in your lower unit. An annual chore, but if you do it before the boat sits all winter, you prevent any accumulated moisture from "resting" on metal parts.

2) Service your trailer bearings. Same rationale as #1.

And as the Musky Medic has observed, you're ready to fish when the first impulse/warm weather hits next season.

Jason,

What do you use to spray the cylinders?

I always decarb motor, add fuel stabilizer and run for a few minutes, remove props and check for fishing line and lube.Drain/blow out all water lines. Plus other items the previous posters mentioned

Thanks for the reply, Dennis. Got my first boat, so it's helpful to know how to pamper it.

I used to do what Dennis talked about with my 60hp tillers.

Now I run a 175hp EFI and 9.9 kicker. I take the boat to the dealer service center I have confidence in and pay them $50 to winterize both motors. If I ever loose a cylinder do to poor winterization I know where to point the finger...

Just remember to change lower unit oil as well as "fogging" the powerhead.
