Guys (and Gals),

Yesterday I wanted to know about fishing tarpon in Florida. Today I want to know if anyone has fished the Yellowstone River in Montana.

Over the summer, my wife and our new 2 month old baby girl drove to Spokane to visit my wife's family. We camped for 2 nights in Yellowstone National Park (my first time there--unbeleievable wildlife). Then we headed north out of the park towards Bozeman. Following the Yellowstone River, I thought the scenery was unbelievable. I would really like to go back to this area and fish.

Has anyone fished the Yellowstone River in Montana? Has anyone fished the stretch that I am talking about? What's in there? What kind of gear did you use? Did you fly fish exclusively? Can you do this from shore, or do you suggest a float boat?

Been years ago but good fishing...Cut throat, browns and rainbow trout. Probably a float boat provides the best way to fish. However, there are horse back trips up to mountain lakes, some bank fishing opportunities and don't forget the indian reservations. I looked up a website for you to learn a little more about the area:

You can also try a ggogle search (google.com) and type in fishing the yellowstone river.

Hey, anytime you spend with you wife and children in the outdoors is money in the bank.
