The WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) visited the Three Lakes Chain of Lakes for the second time of the 2012 tournament season with the PROFESSIONAL MUSKIE ANGLER CIRCUIT™ (Pro-MAC™) Muskie Summit Open Championship™, the second of six major open championships on the circuit. A thunder storm that produced a driving rain had passed through the area earlier in the morning didn't dampen the spirits of the anglers nor the resident muskies as fifteen (15) muskies measuring at least 34 inches or better would be registered with eight of them exceeding 40 inches on the first day of competition. Sunday's shorter hours of competition still produced impressive numbers with eight (8) muskies being tallied over the 34” minimum length.

The first muskie to be registered on Saturday would come from the team of Jared Adamovich and Jeremy Barber at 6:21am with a 38.25 incher but the local anglers from Eagle River weren't done there, they would continue to score on a 40.75" muskie later in the day at 2:00pm, landing the team in second place at the end of the first day of competition. Scoring the biggest fish of the day would be Mike and Dan Wojtusik that measured 44.75 inches at 10:30am. The first team to double up for the day would come from Randy Kauranen and Phil Markgraf with muskies of 40.50 inches at 10:22am with a 41.25 incher at 12:35pm that would give the duo an impressive combined score of 81.75 inches and at the top of the leader board going in to the final day of competition.

Several teams who tallied a muskie the previous day would land more fish to add to their total catch including the first fish of the day that belonged to Bob Lass and Gary George at 7:06am with a muskie of 39.25 inches that when added to their Saturday's 34 incher at 12:03pm, would land their team in fourth place. A 36.50 incher would be landed by Ryan and Justin Reynolds at 7:24am and when added to their previous catch of 34.75 inches at 11:40am would capture a fifth place finish. The fifth team to tally multiple fish for the contest would come on the third fish of the day by John Bennett and Chad Popp with Sunday's biggest muskie of 44.75 inches at 7:30am, adding to their first day's fish of 38.25 inches at 9:40am producing a new leader for the tilt. For the sixth time in the tourney the lead would change hands at 8:17am when Kauranen and Markgraf tripled up with a 34 incher, however only seven minutes later the leader board would change for the seventh and final time when Adamovich and Barber captured their third at 8:24am scoring on a 41” muskie giving the team a four and a quarter inch (4.25”) advantage and the victory.

Other anglers to score on muskies Saturday were: Scott & Kevin Abendroth 38.75” at 7:43am, Kent Stadler & Doug Bloch 41.50” at 10:28am, Alan Phillips & Tom Kliss 37.25 ” at 11:35am, Gary Tutaj & Jeff Deuster 41” 12:53pm, Ryan Bock & Tim Rutzen 44.25” at 12:45pm, Prescott Mahner & Joe Polinski 35.50 ” at 1:36pm, and Andy Jackson & Brandon Leinon 42.50” at 2:58pm.
