Lots here have posted good things about TI rods, and I'm considering upgrading my 8' Compre to a 9' XH Split Grip, but can't decide between the telescoping or one piece. I can manage the one piece, and there's a little more security in a one piece, but the tele would definitely be more convenient in a rod this size.

Due to location I'm a 90% bass / 10% musky guy, so this 9' rod is gonna feel big the first day of the trip no matter what. TI lists the weight difference between the two models at about 2oz. If I used these side-by-side would one feel different than the other? Enough of a difference to care about?

I do not feel the difference in my tele vs solid on weight once a reel is on them. I like my tele TI rods better but I need them for storage. The solid 9' is not bad, just long for my garage and truck. At $135 they are a steal and a real nice rod to go with.

Get the Telescopic.. There is 1 and half feet less of rod to step on when you arn't using it.

How do you all like the 18" handle? That's my other hang-up. It's 4" longer than most I have, and 2-3" longer than most other manufacturers.

I love the 18 inch rear handle. I like to tuck the handle under my arm pit and the longer handle makes it so much easier and more comfortable. Not to mention more leverage for bomber casts.

I was hesitant at first when buying the TI rod because of the longer handle but now that I've been using it for 2 season I don't want to go back to the shorter handle. The longer handle gives you a lot more leverage for casting & is great for figure 8's.

If storage is an issue go with the telescopic.

Thanks all, I went ahead and ordered a 9' Telescoping. Hope I love it as much as everyone out here, does. I'll post back a comparison to my existing arsenal of Compre's shortly after I get it!
