| anybody have any tips on fishing Wapogasset or bear trap, its the closest lake around that has muskys in it. I have been out there twice and not even a follow, I have fished shallow to deep and everything in between. I would greatly appreciate any advice on lures, colors and locations to try. Thanks | |

| Wapo is a low density fishery and it's not an easy nut to crack, but there are some very nice fish in there. As far as the area lakes go, its probably the best in terms of average size and also chances at an upper-40"er. Once the water temps come down as we transition into early fall, focus on the mid-lake structure, weed bars that stick out into the main lake, etc. Try working parallel to the weed edges and breaklines by ripping black/orange magnum bulldawgs. Also try after dark with 10's and/or jointed depthraiders.
After dark with the jointed draider, cast into the deeper weed edge and start reeling until you feel the bait contact weeds, then pause to let it float up and keep repeating until you complete the cast. Occasionally, you'll need to snap your line to free it from the weeds. You'll get hits on that pause and also when you snap the bait to clear weeds. You'll likely also to get some bonus largemouth doing this, some of which can be real dandies. | |
