I second the Power Pro. Been using it for years after frustrations with breaking/fraying Spiderwire. Not tried the Super 8 yet, but I did just buy a spool.

My dad has had nothing but the worst time with Power Pro. He had it for a week in canada, and he had more broken lines in that one year than in all our other trips combined.

We get a saltwater spool of line. If you've seen the size of the reels that saltwater fishermen use you'd know they'd bankrupt themselves paying the same prices we do inland. So dad orders a pound of Backcountry line from Bass Pro Shops. If you don't fish much that may be too much line to have but its a thought.

I tried spider wire with horrible luck. Then i was a power pro fan. Then I went fishing with Hulbert and used cortland. Found it to be stronger and way easier to manage if you do get a backlash

I've been using the regular Tuff Line for 15 years and never had a problem. Tuff Line XP and Power Pro and some others have what feels like a wax coating on them. I love regular Tuff Line.

I have all mine spooled with regular power pro and one with power pro slick, when it comes time to re-spool, i'll be switching everything to the slick. Fished a bass tourney the other day and snapped a st. croix rod in half setting the hook on a decent sized bass, i was using 20# power-pro. good stuff

I second the regular Tuff Line, i have seen many differant lines backlash and snap and there goes your leader and lure(might be your favorite one also), i have had some pretty brutal backlashes(even with pounders)and never had it snap. 80 pound or 100 pound will treat you right. Make sure its the salt and pepper colored line. Classic TUFF-LINE.

Sufix Performance braid or Cortland Masterbraid. Those are the only two lines I will ever use. I have had bad luck with the rest that I have tried. Not to bash, but by comparison, Power Pro is the worst of the lines I have ever used.

I agree with RyanJoz, Power Pro is the worst I have ever used. I also am not a fan if fireline nor SW Stealth. I use Cortland Masterbraid exclusively.

I tried Cortland Masterbraid a few years ago and really like that line. Last year I also picked up a spool of Suffix 832 and that's worked out well for me also. It would be hard to go wrong with either of those 2 lines in my experience.

Power pro, spider wire stealth, and fireline frayed and weakened way to fast for me. Until that happened they were all good lines. I get much better longevity from cortland and suffix lines.

I fish with Power Pro and get some nasty backlashes with it sometimes. I too fished with Mike Hulbert this year and used his stuff. I have to say that the Cortland was a much nicer line. I did get a few backlashes but only took a couple seconds to take them out. The Cortland was not a noisy as the Power Pro. I'm gonna switch to this line. Only problem is they don't carry it at any of the stores around here. Gonna have to order it.
