Want to let everybody know that Tom Gelb has finished his book on Musky Fishing Strategy and the publisher will be done with it in just a few weeks now. I have mine on order.
Didn't know where else to post this so I put it here. Looking forward to getting mine. If you want one, just let Tom know. Should be some very interesting reading with the amount of musky that man has caught.
You can contact Tom at; [email protected]

It exceeded expectations for me. If the Complete Guide... is Musky Fishing 101, this is Musky Fishing 202.

Hey guys,

Obviously you don't have a clue! Anything written about muskie fishing by Tom Gelb is priceless. Have you actually read anything he has written, if not, I go back to the first sentence in my post. Its like asking Dick Pearson if he really know's about Canadian Shield lakes or Doug Johnson if he knows LOTW.. I'm stunned!

Maybe you should read the book.

I'd be up for that. I already have a personalized autographed copy of Dick P's book. A autographed copy of Tom's would be a sweet addition to my collection of muskie literature. Wife's b-day is the sixth, maybe I can sneak it in as B-day road trip? Naaaaah, I'll just tell her its her B-Day present for my b-day (Oct 13th)! We need a road trip!

Have fun!

Can anyone confirm that Tom Gelb will be signing copies at the Musky Hunter Store on Oct 5th, 2012? If so what are the hours for the book signing? I really, really got to have one!

Thanks,
Al

I don't get it. Seems like a reasonable question to me? Sounds like people liked the book, which isn't surprising!

Not to be negative, but the book did not meet my expectations. Just an honest answer.

I read the book and thought it was awesome! Tom goes into all of the details that he looks at when chasing muskies. I don't think anyone here goes through all of the analysis and takes the time to prepare graphs and charts as he does. I wouldn't have the time or patience to do what he does.

Huh? Is this a serious response?

I would like to know what people thought of the book, too. No doubt in my mind whatsoever that Tom Gelb is one of the all-time greats, but that doesn't mean the book is an instant classic.

Don't know if it's exactly Kosher to refer to another guy's site, but there is notice on the MH site about this event which they are (obviously) sponsoring. I am also quick to say that I plan to get there early to get my copy signed. I will quit fishing early to be there at Four. I've probably referred to stuff Gelb has said at seminars on this site more than a dozen times, and I usually say that I am dissapointed that I simply had not gotten it all down and wished that I had. For me, the book is a total jewel that has now given me all the time in the world to try to get inside his head. For less that the price of a a lot of single baits, I believe this book is going to put more and bigger fish in my boat. Actaully, I can't wait to go there!

Colors and blends I understand but I don't understand all the moon phases, weather, and thermocline stuff as I don't get to spend much time on the water. I learn by reading posts on this site and I thought Toms book was easy for the layman even though the moon stuff still tricks me out. A lot of simple explanation so almost everybody can understand. Good book IMO..
I will use some of that info when I get back out on the water for sure, hopefully soon.

Pommes-Guest, OK. I'm finally done with my first read of Tom's book, and I'll finally offer my opinion on the topic(s).

Opinion's - Yes, everyone has one, either good, bad or indifferent. However, the reader must also temper their perspective of the opinion by the fact that they usually have absolutely no clue as to the opinion writer's experience or their level of comprehension of the subject matter at hand.

Musky Fishing Strategy by Tom Gelb - The book didn't disappoint me, it reinforced some things I had already figured out, and gave me some new food for thought. Yes, some of it could have been considered as boring or disappointing. But again that's an individual opinion, and not mine. I actually learned a few new things from Tom's narratives of his muskie fishing experiences.

Overall- Another excellent addition to my fishing library. It fits very nicely right next to Dick Pearson's book. Thank you, Tom.

Junkman- Sorry I missed you. We arrived ~ 45 minutes early as my wife wanted to make sure I didn't miss getting a chance to meet Tom. Actually Tom pulled in ~ 5 minutes after we got there, and another muskie fisherman and I helped him to unload his books from his vehicle. So we had a chance to chat a bit. Doreen was especially impressed, as she had visualized Tom as this big hulking muskie fisherman, much like the Paul Bunyan of muskie fisherman. Probably my fault by telling her my reasons for wanting to drive ~ 200 miles up to St Germain just to get an autographed copy of his book! She bought me the book as an early birthday present, she fully understands my obsession with big muskies, although she doesn't fish herself.....

Stan- I see both Tom and I have a mutual great regard for your work.

Have Fun!
Al
