Recently read an article which stated because of the make up of a muskies eyes they could not see blue or purple.

Blue lures have been effective for years but I have only used them infrequently on clear cisco based lakes

The lake I normally fish is tea stained with most years developing a heavy algae bloom. Productive colours for me have always been fire tiger, orange black, & brown yellow.

Recently while talking to a guy at the launch who I have seen on the lake off and on for over 20 years I noticed a lot of blue silver lures in his boat and he said "blue silver is always good on this lake".

What are your thoughts on blue silver in stained water is this a case of if it moves it's food ( the lake contains some Shiners )?

Many of my knowledgeable customers who boat a LOT of muskies use blue lures. I would have never made so many blue lures in my lure selections if it were not for them. I do not sell many but those who use blue do well! Next time you buy a few lures at your local retailer get a blue one and try it out. I think it comes down to a lot of other factors too and you seem to already be on some of them as to "when" to use blue...

I use blue and silver and blue and white on the rivers around my house all the time there are stained with about 2 to 3 feet of eater clearity when the water is at its best mostly on bright calm sunny days.
