| I am leaving tomorrow for Wisconsin Dells. I will be staying at Chula Vista Resort, which is right on the Wisconsin River. Does anyone know about public access fishing areas nearby? I will not have a boat, and will not be hiring a guide. I just hate to be that close to the river for 5 days without at least fishing a little bit. |

Your best bet is to go to River's Edge Resort on Hwy A in the Dells if you want some good intel and if you're looking to rent a boat. Ask for Botch. If you are interested in shore fishing, there are places by Mexicali Rose and right below the dam, along with other spots. If you take a boat, be EXTRA CAREFUL! The water is extremely low and the river below the Dells dam is chocked full of all kinds of things that will bust up your boat/motor, even when it's at normal pool. Here's the link for River's Edge. www.riversedgeresort.com/

| I've used that ramp at the River's Edge to launch many times. There is a pretty large pier there and lot's of shoreline where I suspect they may let you fish, ESPECIALLY if you buy some bait or a couple of lures and ask first. Just below the dam offers plenty of spots too but I don't like the bite there as well. The fun of fishing here is that there is a high likelyhood of catching an amazing variety including a good chance to tangle with a river sturgeon. I'm going to the dells too today, but it is STRICTLY a grandchildren water park weekend for me. And, oh yea, if you rent a boat...be prepared to buy them a new prop you have a high likelyhood of ruining. |

| Probably late with this now, but I'd try a green pumpkin colored tube with a variety of weighted tube jig (exposed hook) for smallies. |

| Went out Tuesday morning. Walked to the beach at the Dells Natural Area. It was probably a mile hike but there was a nice trail leading back to the beach. Ended up catching a 21" walleye on a KVD squarebill crank bait. I went early and only saw one person on a jetski in 3 hours of fishing. It was great to get away from all the crowds and it was fun catching a walleye since we don't have them down here. Thanks for all the suggestions!
