Location: Elgin, IL | The existing 16 year old stereo in my 96 Lund has to go...yeah, I'm going to miss the cassette player, but wth. So I have the new Sony IPod capable unit ready to go with new Alpine speakers.
The Lund factory plug-in harness doesn't match the new head-unit. There are alot of wires in there, color coded and all, at least 12. Do they ALL need to be spliced and soldered? I'm not easily intimidated but then again, Wow.
I may have this professionally done. Any thoughts?  |

Location: Iowa | Figure which ones are for what and have at it. Most of them should just be speaker wires. |

| Do your power and ground, then figure out what speaker wires go where. Either follow them, or hook them up one by one. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | you can use a AA or similar type battery to chase speaker wires. Hold one of the wires on one end of the battery and touch the other wires to the other end of the battery. When the speaker sounds scratchy, you have found the two wires for that speaker. Typically the ground wire for the speaker has a stripe. If you use a stronger battery like a 9v, you can also test polarity. If you have it right, the cone will move outward. |
