Greeting Card Virus Alert!

OK- Reading the Klez virus thread, I thought I'd do a C drive scan w/ my Norten Anti-Virus software. 22 minutes & 44,000 files later I discovered my system was infected with the W32.Friendgreet.worm. The other day I had received an Email from a friend with a link to pickup the greeting card. Being I just had a birthday in Oct- I stupidly assumed it was a b-day card from my buddy- Wrong as it was downloading. I saw "Unwise.exe" flash through the downloaded files. I hit the power off, but it was to late. STUPID!!!!!! Now I'm getting "corrupted data base" from my corporate Email server! I'll have to sort this out when my Corp. IS support is online Monday AM-

I violated the cardinal rule- Don't download unexpected files-including greeting cards, until you verify with the sender that they actually intended to send it!!! Stupid! Stupid ME! The bad part is it probably came from somebody elses computer & just attached his name to the sender address.

If you want more info on this one go here->

If anyone receives a greeting card message from me, delete the dam thing without opening it!!! There have been a couple of greeting card virus hoax's, this is not one.

Sorry for any inconvienence. Update your virus checker daily!!!!!

Al, when did you get this virus? You sent me a couple zips late this week, was it before that?

Todd-It was after, it doesn't attached itself to an attached file, it appears a greeting card link- go to the web site address I posted above and take look-scroll down and you'll see sample of the Email it sends out. I'm using a different mail system to send you stuff so you should be fine. I just think my corporate mail server saw my infected system and blocked me. I'm clean now, besides I never use Outlook for Emails.

Who writes that garbage? I am amazed at the talent the virus/worm writers seem to have. If they wanted to make a name for themselves, one would think they would put that creativity to work on, say...helping Zach, or something.[]
