What is the best area to fish on the wisconsin river? Does this is area change to much and get too shallow for a 16.5 deep v boat? Thanks.

What stretch of the river are you looking at ??
Lake Alice is good and below the dam on Lake Mohawksin is also good..
They run lots of bigger boats out there.

I've heard the stretch from Merill to Mosinee is very good, but was unsure.

I'm very familiar with the Merrill to Brokaw stretch. You won't be getting very far in a deep v. They do take bigger boats on the river down below Wausau though. They catch some big fish too! Good luck!

Merrill to brokaw is better then below Wausau. More fish in merrill stretch. If you get twords point it is good to. Lots of fish stocked down there.
Below Wausau to dubay has some fish but on smaller side and fewer fish the other places mentioned.

Ok here is the deal. I live in Marathon, been havinga crappy season. I have about 6 hours this weekend to fish. Where would you guys go if you lived around me? Lake Wausau, Alexander, Half Moon, Chucks Landing? I have been trying by schofield park and going up river but not alot of luck yet.

Lake Wausau

i dont know about you, but lake wausau has been a big dud for me this year. i havent seen a fish with stripes on that lake since the end of June... i usually fish it 3-5 nights a week and weekend mornings.

have you or anyone you know been having luck out there?

I don't own a canoe, so I will be fishing out of my Predator.
I will probably go up to Lake Alexander, less traffic usually and I won't have to dodge duck hunters as much.

Anybody been on the river at all recently?
What's been the lure, strictly suckers or will htey hit a mad dawg yet?
Just got back from the Big V and throwing anything but a pounder looks really attractive.
