Subject: Gile flowage???

Thinking about heading to the gile flowage July 20th for a couple days. Was wondering If anyone had any tips. Looking for more trophy fish than action was wondering if the gile still held some bigger fish or if I should look at somewhere else in the area?

I've spent about 4-5 days out there so I am no expert but there are def. some nice fish in there for WI standards, but it is certainly not an action lake and you will need to put some time in...There's no weed growth to speak of ( if there is I have not found it). I have found fish on rock walls, bullrush, and underwater boulders...You also want to be very careful with navigation until you learn the water, there are some nasty reefs near the large island in the middle of the lake and other mid lake obstacles that could destroy a lower unit and you would never see them coming...

Stay out of the bars in Hurely, they are bad news.

Get a map and watch your lower like Brian said.

Nice scenic lake. There are a few weed beds, just not many, but the ones I found held fish.

Two biggest fish I snatched out of there both came on a Suick (1 musky and 1 big pike).

Dark water so probably start with orange or chartreuse.

Give us a report, I'm headed back 1st of August. May not take my own advice about the bars.
