I have not fished this piece of water in 3 years and I was thinking of possibly fishing there in the coming weeks. Could someone let me know if the public launch off of 96 is safe to use? I know the beach is closed and with water levels so low I don't know if a boat can make it out of that bay.

Yes, they dredged that boat ramp last week, it's not more than 3-4 feet deep, but you can launch a boat there.

Is that ramp still lop sided where the boat is impossible to get back on the trailer straight or is it level now? Thanks

I was just there last night. Water skiers in the rain...
Launch right down the middle. The lanes have one fendor sticking 4" out of the water and the other 4" below.

They still haven't figured out that launch. Personally, I think retaining walls need to be made that extend into the water to keep the launch from pinching in. I was out the day they were dredging it and didn't see the closed sign at 5am. I come back and have to trailer my rig on the beach. Quite an adventure.

I went down the center of the ramp b/c of the 45degree slopes on the sides and got an earful from a guy sitting in the boat behind me waiting to load...yes, there are two lanes, but...

I fished it a few times this year and every time I been on the lake, I've had a few follows by good sized musky. So they're in there. Just gotta be lucky to see one as they are particular when they want to bite. I was tossing hand made buck tails. Darker colors seems to work better. 9/13/2012

Try fishing the edges of the island located just south of the public ramp. Try both sides as I have had follows on both sides. Bucktails Black, and also White seem to be good colors to use. No need to toss those China made Double Cowgirls with #10 blades. Use anything from a Mepps muskykiller, inhaler, with #7 blades, will be fine. Single Blade works just as good as those overhyped over-weight lures.
