| I went 0 for 5 on Sunday..
Man that hurts.
I tend to be a really streaky in fishing - hope this streak ends soon.
I get on some awesome streaks from time to time too.
Anyone else suffer from this? |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | When you say 0 for 5 or 0 for 3 do you mean follows or actual bites from muskies?
Just wondering. |

Location: north metro, MN | happens to me all the time. so far for me this season I have had a lot of fish just completely miss my lure, fish blowing out of the water, or coming straight up at my bucktails or jerks and completely missing.. Makes you wonder how many times that happens when your lure is far enough out to where you wouldn't see a fish that missed and didn't break the surface! Don't worry bud, everyones luck turns around.. last weekend you had zero of the five fish that ate come to the bag, this weekend you could go 5 for 5.. no matter how good of a musky angler one is, there is always that "coincidence factor" (sometimes you where just in the right or wrong spot at the time) add in a little bad or good luck and there is the difference between a 5 fish day, and a 0 fish day .. like you said, there are times when everything just seems to be going perfect! you just have to keep fishing until that next "good streak" comes along.

Location: Central Wisconsin | What kind of baits are you using when you go 0 for 5? Admidttedly, I use what are considered to be the "best" hookup baits (prop style topwater and bucktails), but I rarely miss a fish. I did however go 2 for 3 on Sunday, and have gone 0 for 3 before. Just wondering what your seeing all the action on. |

Me too a follow is still just a follaw or a seen fish but if I had 5 0ut of 5 fish come unbuttoned I would be concerned. |

| Three summers ago I went 0 for 11 to start the year. Those are hooked fish that ended up getting off on a variety of baits. Hooks were sharp, just couldn't get them to the dang boat and if I did they'd get off boatside. Frustrating as hell. Couple of 50's in there, too, including one that would have been my personal best. That streak lasted a solid 3 weeks, broke it with a 51 and went on a tear the rest of the year.
I HATE losing fish. Drives me nuts. |

| Stick in there, last year, end of Sept first part of Oct my boat partner and I had 27 fish come to the boat, or hit. Ended up with only 2, a nice 42" and my best a 51". So far this year between us we are 0 for 18 or so. Makes it hard to put the time in, but I still keep going, she's out there somewhere, and she will eat someday, I want to be there when she does!!! |

Location: 31 | We typically refer to what kind of day we had in that manner for trolling (3 for 5 to 46" or whatever). The 3 would be boated mo's with action from 5 that we were fairly confident about... not just a little zip or in the neighborhood of a pike. For casting we typically roll with 3 categories... follows, lost, and boated. Anyway you slice it 0 for 5 is not good!

You need to get yourself a Gaff for boatside fish, it really helps, and gives you something to hold onto. |

Location: oswego, il | I have seen yearly moods in fish. Two years ago, i could not get a fish to clamp down and turn it's head when it ate. They would nip or eat open their mouth and swim at the boat. I lost alot of fish that year, many of them i could not even get an angle to set the hook. Baits did not matter. Some years they just smoke the bait, clamp tight and swim away for an easy hookset.

| I had 5 bites:)
I was fishing rubber - I realize that they are poorer at hooking than hardbaits but I like them a lot.
Thanks for the comments guys

Location: Northern IL | That's always been the problem I've had with most rubber baits, or tails etc. We spend most of our time trolling and it's very rare where the fish gets the middle hooks, if there's 3 hooks and even more rare for the fish to get the front hooks. It's not a surprise to hear fished are missed using rubber or baits without a hook near the tail. I'm on the Detroit river today and so far we're 8 for 8.
