Was wondering anyones opinion on fishing evenings this week, hot and muggy!! But just want to get out and log some hours!! I'm new to this site but not new to the sport, I know the best way to catch one is just be on the water, and there's always a chance. Does the humidity only bother us?

Things are looking up in my eyes. Be sure to stick it out past sunset on the muggy nights.

Hot humid days are tuff conditions to catch muskies until its cooling off at dark and after. Night bite or early morning is best on hot muggy humid days.

Once the heat, humidity and muggy weather breaks the fish will go nuts. Tonight was the end of a stretch of hot humid weather. Tomorrow will be very good I would bet. I worked my but off to catch a 36 tonight after 4 hours of fishing. Tomorrow will be cooler and less humid. I bet we score multiple fish.

I have been keeping records of humidity and fish activity. Almost always on the slow side when humidity is high. Once it breaks the bite gets better almost every time.
This is just my results on a metro inland lake. Boat traffic is nuts on hot humid days also so that can come into play with the slow fishing.

All I know is after a good hot humid stretch I will be out big time when that weather pattern breaks.

DIDO!!!! on all the posts to your question !!!! This go's for all fish. Muskies the most as they love to feed up just at dusk till around midnight. Dusk is the magic hour. musky's have allmost as good of night vision as walleys and a lateral line much longer then most fish and they love to eat frogs and small fish that are feeding on surface bugs. Best baits, CREEPER'S , HAWG WOBBLER'S, AND any slow moving bait. you don't have to FGR.8 a surface bait after the cast, just let it set in the water after the cast and splash it around. Colors- BLACK - BLACK - AND BLACK. GOOD FISHING YOU, MARV

Just keep in mind an old fisherman's credo....

"The two best times to go fishin' is when it's rainin' an' when it aint!"

Thad seems to be the only one I agree with here.
I love muggy.
Make sure you aren't confusing air temps with water temps.
If the water temps are good, I'd fish muggy at any opportunity, even clear skies and muggy, a somewhat uncommon condition, more often you will see hazy and muggy.

Humidity only bothers us, fish prefer it, I mean, ya know, like.........where do fish live anyway????

hot, muggy, and calm nights are some of my favorite esp the 2 hours before dark and ALL night....if it's not crazy windy some of the best action we've had is after dark on those nights with topwater and bucktaiils...give me a hot, muggy, calm nite and I'll pull an all nighter if i can....big fish.

I agree that after dark is extremely good when its hot and muggy. But during the day and afternoon I don't think its very good fishing.

Yesterday was the last day of the heat and humidity. The fishing was slow yesterday afternoon for most that I network with. Only one muskie was caught in my boat. Today I fished the exact same hours as yesterday and my clients caught 3 muskies and lost a big one. Only difference was the temps droped and so did the humidity. All these fish were caught well before dark today.

After dark the humidity drops some and it cools off. By far the best time to fish if its hot and humid.

i think it could be water temp and lake specific too...Tues nite was very not and humid..93 in madison and windy, our tues night league lit em up with lots of 42+ caught up to 48"...most were 6pm to 8pm...the next day i know of a few big fish lost or caught before dark too..again, hot and humid...last nite a friend was out and i think saw one...post frontal...so don't discount fishing during the day, our water temps were 75.5 Mike so not sure what yours were but our big fish were on the move and eating....fish when you can, but don't think that they won't go silly before dark too when it's hot and humid... your lake could be "on" while one next to it could be "off"....

I'm not questioning Mike's expertise or experience at all, but I remember reading Saric's thoughts on the subject and he always felt that if it stayed warm/humid at dusk in his opinion it was well worth it to fish after dark. And I must say that in northern MN that's been our experience as well. If it cools down and the humidity drops when the sun goes down we generally have a tougher dark/after dark bite. Could be differences in the area or lake to lake too.

Just going to state the obvious here. Mike is one of the best on Pewaukee and has had an intimate connection with that lake for over 30 years. When he talks, I listen. Intently.

I shared my "hot and muggy" results with him the other day, which was zilch, and he was not surprised. It got me thinking, when was the last time I stuck a Pewee fish in the muggy weather? I had to go back to 2009, when the fishing was great all year long.

I got out last night had a very productive night. Not as good as Mike's, but still pretty sweet.

Pewee is a different lake (muggy weather wise) than the Vilas County lakes that I am used to.
