Location: Madison, WI | Hi guys,
Been reading some of the old posts about these here, and thinking about getting one, so here's my question...
I would like a rod that I would be using EXCLUSIVELY for double 10s (Shumway Giant Flashers and Double Cowgirls mostly). Previous posts here about the TI rods have addressed other issues such as which is best for soft plastics, etc. But I'm asking solely on the basis of an exclusive double 10 combo. It will be paired with a Revo Toro Winch, so not really burning the baits.
However, one of the main things I'm looking for is enough firmness in the rod tip to provide for a good quality figure 8. My current bucktail rod tends to flex a bit too much under the strain of double 10s during the figure 8.
So what's the best of the TI rods for double 10s? Is it the XH? And curious about preferences between the 8 and 9 foot versions.
Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Location: VA | Xh loads to much for me in the 8. I like the xxh 9 ft. But I weight all my cowgirls with at least 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz sinkers. |

Location: Madison WI | I have a 9' XXH and I love it for double 10's, mine doesn't really seem to flex much in the figure 8 or ovals, but it sure loads up nice with a fish on. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I'll throw the monkey wrench in. I have both. Just got the XXH this year for Pounders and Bucketheads. I used the XH last year for 10's a lot and I liked it for that. It loads up a little bit in the 8 but not a whole lot, and it casts them very well. I guess I'll have to try the XXH and see what I think but my guess is I'll notice a little tougher casting. Those things cast bad enough into wind as it is I want all the help from the rod as I can get. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | You will have to pick which one works for U.
The XH will cast DCG 10-13 into the wind a mile with no backlashes, but will flex a little on the 8.
The XXH will cast DCG 10-13 not as good and into the wind forget it, unless you add 1oz plus of weight to the DCG 10-13, also a SALTIST would not be a good choice for a XXH rod for casting DCG 10-13, because it has no spool brakes. But the XXH will not flex on the 8.
If it was me I would get the XH in 9 foot. |

Location: Black Creek, WI | Jackpot, If you will be putting a Toro Winch on this combo... I'd suggest going with the XH rather than the XXH. Let the rod do the work of casting the bait out there.... and if/when you need a power Figure8.... deal with the rod loading up a little. Since your retrieve speed will be slower, it won't be hard to get some extra speed going into your figure 8. |

Location: Okoboji | well it is apples to oranges but i prefer my slingblade h over my nasty xh when casting blades...10's really arent that big of a bait and the xxh seems like you would have issues with casting i would go with the xh if your a blade guy |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I own the XH and I think it is perfect for casting and 8s IMO. but the xxh would do better in the figure 8 I imagine as it will not flex as much. But I honestly believe that if you and I stood toe to toe and you were using the XXH and I had the XH, you would realize that the XXH is not going to load enough on your cast to get your bait to where you want it to go. I can cast a mile with the XH and the flex on the 8 is really minor compared to other rods I have used. So in short get the XH... |

Location: NorthCentral WI | I have both. I prefer the XH for everything up to mag dawgs. Anything bigger/heavier than that I reach for the XXH. The XH does not load much while doing a normal figure 8 and you aren't going to be doing any high speed retrieves with the winch anyways! IMO, the XH also loads much better with fish on, where as I've had trouble with the XXH. My .02 for what its worth. |

Location: Wisconsin | I have both 8' and 9' XHs. For me, both work fine for double 10's. Eight footer seems to load up a little more than the 9'er during a figure 8. Have not tried an XXH yet. But I'm guessing that I'd take the better casting qualities, which you will do how many times in a day? Versus a little better performance from an XXH when you get a follow. Tom |
