| Black and nickel is a pretty safe bet. It's always good to talk to people locally to get a better idea. Some lakes are known to have certain productive colors, blade size/style, skirt material, et cetera.
Your gear will tell you what you're capable of throwing. Double Showgirls or 700/800 Series Buchertails will work on almost every set up. There are tons of bucktail manufacturers, so you have plenty of options. |

Black/Copper
or
Glittertail Bronze Beast and Copper Stopper. I find my self throwing these about 80 % of the time. Find what works best for you. But those are a good place to start.

Location: Northern Illinois | I really think white with nickel blades is up at the top as well. I think it depends on the lake and time of day/light and other conditions. Black tail/nickel blade, white tail/nickel blade, and black tail/gold blade seem to work the best for me. Basically, a metallic blade for flash with either a black or white tail. |

Black with orange blade
Black with green blade
White with nickle blade
and for that one lake in southern WI. the black maribou with martian green blade
Looking at this list I now wonder how I ended up with so many more different colored bucktail combos!

| How clear is the water?
Basically, nickle blade, black tail. Also gold blade with black or natural brown tail. If the water is really murky, maybe gold blade, yellow tail. |

| Probably depends on where u fish a little. On my home shad forage waters blue and silver with nickel blades is the winner. |
