| I remember reading about different ideas guys had thought up for taking pics. when fishing by yourself. Anybody care to share a photo of the rig they came up with? I'm looking at mounting something to one of my rails to allow a camara. Possibly use a micro ram mount to bastardize some type of mounting system for my camara. Thanks |

Location: Madtown, WI | I had been using a tripod but when releasing a fish last fall the whole thing tipped over into the drink ruining the camera. So this spring, I took the tripod apart and bolted the adjustable piece it into a pvc pipe. On the other end, I bolted the pipe to an old crappy rod holder which fits securely into one of my 6 rod holders mounts that the previous owner installed all over the boat. This system is pretty slick as it's still fully adjustable and extremely secure. It does look like a frankenstein of a camera mount but it was made completely out of spare parts so I can't complain. I'll try to post pictures later. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Camera mounts are not expensive, google it and take a look. I bought a few suction cup mounts that work great, and 4 permanent mounts that I have n the rig.

| I am curious how you set it up so that you know where to stand to get a quick pic and back in the water. A spot on the floor, set height to hold the fish?
I never really worried about it but last year I got a nice fish, right off shore from a lake lot a friend is trying to sell. I regretted I didn't have a way of getting a photo when by myself because I caught it right in line with the for sale sign and might have been a nice thing to show potential buyers. As luck would have it, two minutes before I hooked the fish there were two boats near me. The both left the lake as I hooked the fish. Not another boat within sight. |

Location: MN | If you use a digital camera just take a test photo of yourself and adjust from there. You'll then know where to position it for future. And farther is better, you can make sure to get the whole fish in and you can crop later. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Another option is running a video camera for the release. There's pots of 'em out there with a remote that shoot HD, and you can use any frame you want from the video. THOUSANDS of pictures...here's an example from a standard resolution underwater camera.

| Does anyone have advice on a taller mount, say 4'-5' that you can use to get a wider panorama of the boat?
For the OP, if you use the GoPro, most of their mounting hardware will do the trick, then it is just a matter of gettingh the right angle set up to get your shots. |

Location: 31 | I just use my smart phones video camera when I'm by myself... sold my POV last year when I figured out a way to do it.
It's a pretty simple deal really... I just use two small spring clamps and the phone. One clamp on the windshield, the other clamp holds the phone in place against the other clamp (I had to bend the end of the window clamp for the correct angle). It holds the camera steady/secure and there is a ton of adjustment to get it centered on the spot to pose back by the motor. When I get home I just edit pictures from the video, they're not as good of quality but being able to select the exact frame makes up for it to me... plus I always have the video.

Location: Hayward, WI | My device is very simple and cheap. I put a PVC pipe in an open seat pedistal. One end of the PVC is capped with a bolt threaded thought it for the camera to screw to. Can make it tall or short as you want for standing or kneeling pictures, and it can't tip over. I would say mine is about 40" long and I take most of my pictures kneeling on the front deck of the boat. I could shorten it some. I'll try to remember to take a picture of it sometime and post it here.
