Location: Contrarian Island | anyone have any experiences w this motor? someone suggested to take out the oil pump or bypass it and just mix the oil in the gas ....anyone ever do that ? or is it easy to do? thanks |

| Good motors. Carburated, so not great on gas. No issues with the oil injection systems.
Oil injection issues were on the older VRO systems of another mfg. Evinrude/Johnson or Yammy. One of those. |

| That's the 3 cyl, right? Not the "Classic 50" 4 cylinder.
I'd suggest Synthetic oil, like Amsoil. Run cleaner, smoke less, easier on the plugs. Also, add Stabil and Quick-Kleen to the tank and run it through the season, if it sits for periods of time. |

guy that owned it had been using the optimax oil in it.....

| Opti oil is overkill. I just like the synthetics for less smoke, and easier on the plugs. |

I agree with Shep on this one... His suggestion of Amsoil is an excellent choice!!. I have been running the HP injector oil in my 2 stroke motors and have yet to foul a plug from trolling, or for any other reason while running. It is only a couple dollars more than name brand oil, and...AND if you can find a local independent Amsoil dealer, you might be able to get it within a dollar of the name brands.
