Location: Michigan | I am looking for an expert tyer to tie up some tails on coil coil for me. I am willing to pay top dollar provided the tail has these qualities:
Coil length 2" and 2.5" that is keel wieghted
Quality deer hair that is not fried
Long fine hair - minimum 4.5" long on finished tail
Tied on coil in 4 layers
Tied evenly around coil, not in "clumps"
Glued or epoxied between layers
Epoxied on top layer
Hair must be securely tied with no hair pulling out upon completion
I am looking for several different colors, and if the quality is what I am after, I will buy a bunch... As many as 40. However, the quality must be absolute tops.
Please contact me if interested. Serious inquiries only from experienced tyers.
I need a handfull within 3 weeks.
Also after #10 blades .020 thick that are finished with high quality paint. Specifically, I am after black blades with chartreuse painted tips/ends.
Thanks!

Location: Detroit River | Have you ever seen 4 layers tied on a 2" or 2 1/2" keel weighted coil?
4 1/2" long deer hair is very hard to come by.

| My girl friend do some fly tying since 15 years and make some spinnerbaits and bucktails since 5 years. She have aces to some extra long deer hair, but you probably know 4 to 4.5 inch ones are pretty expansive and rare. Here is a example of what she can make, the blade is a no13.blades like you want is not a problem.Quality is really not a problem with her,#*^@ sometimes she can take around a hours just to make one.
If you want to discuss you can email her at [email protected]
She is called Julie

As a matter of fact Zib, I have... I used to tie my self a bit... I have many tails from a guy that is no longer in business and he had the best hair of any bucktails i have ever seen. I am just trying to find that level of quality out there today...
I have had several positive leads, so thanks to all. |

| Here is another pics of a used one,for some reason long white hair is easier to get than black.Black have to be dyed 2 times and i think that process force the tails to shrink.

Have you tried contacting deer hunting outfitters, game ranches or game breeders, in your quest for longer hair.
Obviously whitetail deer, tail/belly hair can be long. Thinking easier to get. Not sure about black tails, sika, falo, or mule deer.
Maybe one of these places, could have something for you.

I have bought tails from several places that have claimed to have top quality long/large tails with long hair & none of them had hair longer than 4". I've cut tails off of some old does (10 & 11 years) & an old 8-yr old buck but their tail hair was barely over 4". If anyone knows a place that consistently sells quality large tails let me know.
Tying 4 layers on a 2" coil that has a keel weight on it doesn't leave much room. I like the thread to cover about 3/8" of the hair to keep it from pulling out. |
